Dernancourt School R-7 Newsletter

24th October 2019

FROM KELLIE

WELCOME TO TERM 4

Welcome back to term 4, while we still have plenty of work to do, we know that this term quickly becomes a term of celebrations of goals and benchmarks achieved, challenges, fun and learning,  we are looking forward to them all!

Some of the ways we will be celebrating include Colour Fun-Run, Aquatics, Yr 7-8 Partnership Transition Day, Yr 7 transitions to their secondary schools, Preschool transitions, class excursions, assemblies, concert, Yr 7 Graduation Ceremony and of course celebrating 2019 learning in End of Year Reports...just to mention a few! We hope you were able to rest up over the break.

PLANNING FOR 2020

As was mentioned in our last  newsletter for Term 3 we have started our planning for 2020. One of the first steps in this process is predicting our student enrolments...we need your help. If your child is not returning to our school in 2020 we ask that you please complete the eForm on skoolbag app. This important step enables us to determine the number of classes and teachers required next year. Please complete this by 4:00pm Friday 25/10/2019.

If your child is returning in 2020 and your child has any exceptional circumstances that you would like staff to consider in the class placement process please put these in writing  addressed to Kellie  Anderson.  Requests for teachers will not be considered

Please complete this by 4:00pm Friday 25/10/2019.

Please note that any information submitted after this time will not be considered. Staff spend time making decisions about where children will be placed to best suit their learning. We always give this serious thought and consider learning needs, friendship groups, behaviour, gender balance, special needs, class size, previous placements and other special considerations. Our staff know individual students well and also know how they connect with others to support learning outcomes and social needs. Ultimately the responsibility of class placement rests with the school.

STAFFING NEWS

Welcome Anita Becker

My name is Anita Becker and I am working in the role of Deputy Principal for the rest of the year. I have spent the last 3 years at Thorndon Park Primary School in the same role and prior to this, was at Golden Grove Primary School as Assistant Principal. I look forward to getting to know Dernancourt students and families during this busy Term 4.

Outside of school, I am kept very busy with my 13 year old twins, Mia and Cooper. I enjoy spending time with them on the weekends, mostly watching their sport and sharing their interests. In my free time, I also like to travel and spend time with family and friends.
