A big warm hello to all our students, parents, staff and members of our school community.
It does not take long to get back into the swing of things and all the grade levels, including the Prep/One students are certainly in full work mode already. A big thank you and congratulations to our staff and students for settling in so quickly. We are already half way through week three of a ten week Term 1.
GRADE PREP/ONE LEVEL MASS
Just a reminder to all the Prep/One families that we are celebrating the commencement of their school year this Saturday with a special Mass and BYO Picnic dinner afterwards on the Soccer pitch. Mass will commence at 5:30pm. We estimate that we won’t go too late and will be finished about 7:30pm. Because it is an official school function we ask that there be no alcohol consumed by parents.
FIRST PARENTS AND FRIENDS MEETING
Our first Parents and Friends Association Meeting for 2023 will be held 2:30pm Thursday of next week 23rd February in the Family Room. Please come along and join the existing P & F committee in planning a lot of our fundraising for 2023. Come along and join in the Fun. See you there.
In the coming weeks money raised last year will be seen in the presence of new drinking fountains near the Grade 3 & 4 rooms and also outside the Junior toilets. We also hope to add a couple more taps outside the senior toilets soon as well.
SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL (SAC)
As Mrs Jessica Saracino has joined our staff as one of our part-time teachers she has stepped down from our School Advisory Council. We are seeking at least one further member or possibly two to fill her place.
Members of the SAC are Fr Boy Galdo, Mrs Maria Mella, Mrs Andrea Senior, Mrs Diana Crellin, Mrs Rachael Spooner, Mr Oscar Wassilieff and myself as Chairperson. If you are interested please contact me by email and I will be only too happy to send you further details as to what a member of the SAC’s role is
SUMMER SCHOOL UNIFORM
Please see below another reminder as to what the summer uniform is. Let us wear our St Matthew’s summer uniform with pride.
MEET AND GREETS WITH YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER.
Please refer to the instructions that were sent home yesterday in regard to next Wednesday’s 22nd Meet & Greet sessions, commencing @ 1:30pm and going through to 6:30pm.
WORKING BEE – SATURDAY 4TH MARCH
Our Green Team and Mrs Jessica Mazzone are asking for helpers to join them in shovelling soil and mulch and planting new indigenous plants into our new interactive Indigenous Garden Bed. CERES (Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies) have donated the soil, mulch and plants in Brunswick and our Merri-Bek Council.
Please see the flyer from Mrs Mazzone, which is attached to this week’s newsletter. Morning tea will be supplied
I have been asking for some warm weather, well today, tomorrow and Friday are certainly more like Summer. About time! I reckon. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Yours Sincerely,
Bob Brown - Principal
