Duke of Edinburgh Award's Program

The Duke of Edinburgh International Award’s programs are available to all students 14 years and over.

Each activity is self-organised by the joining participants and the tracking of the progress is monitored by Duke of Ed Award Leader Sarah Fonso:  sarah.fonso@tphs.nsw.edu.au

Duke of Ed support sessions are held every Thursday Lunch in SG3.

Years K-12: Term 1 - Chess Club

Mr McKee has organised chess games in the library every Tuesday in Term 1 from 1:00 – 1:30pm.

Students who get involved will have the opportunity to: 

  • test and improve their skill as a player
  • learn how to play
  • think critically and creatively
  • improve their pattern recognition and problem-solving capabilities
  • meet new people
  • and have fun.

All students from K-12 are welcome.

Years 7-12: Term 2 - Chess Tournament

Pittwater House will be running a Chess Tournament in Term 2!

Duration: Term 2, Weeks 2-9

Time: Tuesdays, 3:40 – 4:40pm at Pittwater House

Tournament Type: Rapid Chess Round Robin

Tournament Matches Played Per Student Per Week: 2

Tournament Match Format: 15 minutes per player with 0 seconds increment

Arbiter: Mr McKee

Students from Years 7-12 who would like to participate should express their interest with Mr McKee. More details will be published in HouseNews in Week 8.
