FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

Dear Parents/Caregivers

Since the last Newsletter, we have had several major events. Our 2022 Sacramental children have now completed celebrating the Sacraments of Initiation. We congratulate Ali Ta, Blayde and Kylah Tepue who received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion.

Monday 22nd August marked the beginning of Catholic Schools Open Week. As this was also Book Week, we started the week off with Our Book Week Parade. The students came to school very excited, and many students made the effort to dress up as their favourite book character. Thank you to the parents who made this possible for their children. The morning then continued, and all class teachers opened their classrooms. Parents were encouraged to visit the classrooms and engage with the students and their learning. We finished the morning with a morning tea in the Hall, where parents could socialise with other parents. We thank all the parents who made time in their busy schedules to attend this morning and celebrate the wonderful learning at St Patrick’s School. The students love to share their learning with you.

Last Friday night, the P&F held their annual School Disco. It was a fantastic evening for the students, and it was wonderful to see so many attend and enjoy themselves. This year, for the first time, we split the disco into two sessions to ensure that we were COVID compliant. Our small but dedicated Parents and Friends Committee planned the event, organised the DJ, goodies for the gift bags and decorated the Hall prior to the evening as well as attending on the night to help supervise the students and then clean up the hall ready for school use on Monday morning. A very special thank you to Huyen, Liam, Katherine, Brad, Andrew, Fadzai, Megan and Al for all their hard work. Without the parent helpers, this night would not be possible. I would also like to thank the staff who attended on the night: Anna P, Cynthia, Christine L, Nikki, Linda M, Sandra, Stephanie, Jane & Anne Marie. It always makes the night extra special when staff support the evening. Thank you to Mandy for printing and selling tickets for the event and thanks also, to our student captains for helping get the balloons and goodie bags ready for the evening. I would also like to extend a big thank you to Michele and Luke from Camp Australia who provided tea and coffee in the community room for parents who wished to stay back.

Thank you to all parents who took the time to complete the Parent LLL surveys. All results are now being collated for schools by Curtin University. When I receive the summary, I will share this with you.

Next week, there are two important dates to put into your diary.

·         Tuesday 6th September, the students’ artwork will be on display in the Hall for our St Patrick’s School ART EXPO. The Hall will be open from 2:30-4:30 pm. When parents pick up their child(ren) after school on Tuesday, we ask that you come into the hall with your child(ren) to see the display. We have many talented students, and this is another way for their work to be shared with you. Afternoon tea will be offered.

·         Friday 9th September is our Pupil Free Day. We ask that you make arrangements for the care of your child(ren). Camp Australia will be offering childcare on this day if you need, so we ask that you book your child(ren) in as soon as possible.

I am starting to work on the 2023 classes. Forms were sent home asking parents to indicate their intentions. For families who did not return their forms, a second form was sent home. It is a matter of urgency that you complete and return these forms. This information is needed to determine staffing as well as vacancy for new enrolments.

Sacramental Celebrations 2022

We come to the end of our Sacramental Program for 2022. Our students are now prepared to accept their important role of following Jesus’ teachings about God’s love in their lives. Thanks to their parents for their support throughout the program and the staff who attended the Sacramental celebrations. Here are some photos of the special ceremonies.

IMPORTANT MEDICAL INFORMATION

Ambulance cover

The school has ambulance cover for students who have accidents here at school or while on a school organised event.  However, this cover does not include students with a pre-existing condition such as asthma and anaphylaxis or reactions to allergies.

We will ring an ambulance if we need support in administering first aid,  however in the case of students with pre-existing conditions the  parents will be charged by Ambulance SA for their service.

This can cost upward of $900 so we strongly encourage you to take out ambulance cover, particularly if your child has a pre-existing health condition.
