Tutor Program

In addition to our NCCD funded Learning Support staff, we have been funded by  the Victorian Government to provide a Tutoring Program to  support the learning and engagement of students. This is in response to the time lost 'onsite' at schools and kindergartens during the pandemic ( COVID 19). Liz Miller will fill this roll on Thursdays (and a few Fridays) Through Term 1, 2 and 4.

Parent Teacher Chats

Parents are invited to make a time to meet and chat with their child's teacher. This is an opportunity for parents to share relevant information about their child with teachers. We do have Parent Teacher Interviews late in Term 1 for teachers to discuss with parents about their child's progress. So this early meeting on the 13th February is optional.

If you would like a book a time please use the following link and code.

Medical

It is very important that school is kept updated with any significant health concerns with children. It is VITAL that parents obtain a health plan e.g anaphylaxis/asthma plan if needed for their child.

Please ensure that you provide an Asthma pump/Epipen etc if required and that it is within its use by date.

Kinder Flyer Drop

School tours for 2024 enrolments are planned for February, March and April. I am again asking for assistance from families to complete flyer drops to Child Care and Kindegartens to advertise tours for enrolments for 2024.

If you can hlep with some flyer drops over the next few weeks please contact Gail or Anne Maree.

St Timothy's Netball

St Timothy's are looking for children (boys and girls) from Year 1 up to join our St Timothy's Netball teams. It involves one night training after school and one game night/day.

We are particularly looking for players for the Tabbies (Year 1-4) who play Monday night. If there are any interested older children (Year 5/6) the  Cubs  also welcome ypu to join their team. They play on Saturdays.

Christmas Holiday Watering

A GIGANTIC thank you to our families who watered over the Summer break. It relieves my mind that our beautiful gardens are well cared for over the holidays.

Thanks to: Lander, Cresswell, Sutton, Pemberton and Hayes families.

Beginning of the School Year Mass

This year there has been a change to the Beginning of the Year School Mass.

We will celebrate on a School Day - Friday 17th February at 10 am.

All St Timothy's children will be attending.

We warmly invite all parents who are able to attend to join us on the day.

The children will receive their leadership badges at this special celebration.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

School Advisory Council and Parents & Friends Meeting

We are hoping to hold a combined School Advisory Council and Parents & Friends meeting on Tuesday 7th February at 7pm. This is an opportumity for School, Parish, School Advisory (SAC), and our Parent and Friends Committes (P&F) to meet together to plan the events of the year. We can then share with the wider community the roles, responsibilities and positions of members.  We warmly invite new members to the Parents & Friends Committee. It is a great way to get to know other members of the school community.

School Assembly

Our School Assemblies will be held each Friday at 3pm. Parents are very welcome to attend. Miss Wright has a schedule for when the Year 6 children will lead assembly.  This can change but Year 6 parents will be alerted to any changes in timetable.

Cake Raffle Volunteers

It is that time again when we ask for volunteers to donate (buy/bake) a cake, slice or treat for our weekly cake raffle. It is always a very excting 'event' at assembly each week. If you can assist please send me an email or note and I will add you to the list.

Tickets are 10 cents each and can be purchased on Fridays.

Just a reminder that regular attendance at school is important for children's learning. However we understand that at times your child will be unable to attend school.

If you are planning a holiday during school term, we do require written notification of absence.

Saturday 4th February and Sunday 5th February

Today, when we describe a person as being the ‘salt of the earth’ it’s generally meant in away that says the person is hard working, straight talking and pretty down to earth. It’s usually meant as a compliment but sometimes can come across as a bit condescending when used inappropriately. When Jesus tells the disciples that they are salt of the earth and the light of the world he is really saying ‘You are to be the salt of the earth; you are to be the light ofthe world.’ It is more of a directive than an affirmation of them. Today’s first reading from Isaiah helps to shed light on Jesus’ meaning in the gospel passage: ‘Share your bread with the hungry, and shelter the homeless poor, clothe the man you see to be naked and turn not fromyour own kin. Then will your light shine like the dawn.’ It sounds a lot like the message from the last judgment in Matthew 25 when the king says ‘whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’ It’s a message of justice and right relationship not onlywith God but with one another also. To be salt of the earth and light of the world means to be the one who puts their hand up and steps forward to speak for, work for and act for those who are the least in this world. To have the potential and resources to be a force for good in the world and not act on it is to be like salt that’s used for salting the streets or a lamp that’s under a tub.

Parish Hall - A word from Fr Gerard

During 2022 the Parish and the School entered into fruitful discussions regarding access to the Parish’s Hall for Parishioners on a more regular and stable basis, prompted by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools now governing the Primary School and the Right to Use Buildings and Land Agreement. You’ll be pleased to know that Anne Maree Jones has arranged for the Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) to operate within the School from the beginning of 2023. This has happened. Now an audit of the Parish Hall needs to happen, significant cleaning undertaken, some repairs and/or modifications before it is operational for the Parish and general use.
