On Friday 29th April, Taj, Jarrah and Kezi competed at State Swimming in Melbourne at the Sports and Aquatic Centre for Swimming. State swimming is a competition with all the best swimmers in Victoria competing for a medal or a personal best. ‘’We had to win in our choice of stroke at regionals to make it to this level”.

Taj competed in Butterfly and Backstroke. Jarrah competed in Butterfly and Kezi competed in Breaststroke.

All the swimmers were pleased with the times they posted, and all tried their hardest and had a great time.

The JSC held a successful Gratitude Day on the last day of Term 1. It was pleasing to discover how many MPS students across all ages could explain what gratitude meant. The JSC would like to thank Jake Hoskin for is incredible poster design.

Watch out for Empathy Friday at the end of Term 2. Dress in green!

The JSC meets every Thursday during second recess. The next piece of work is around class libraries. We will be surveying students to find out if their class libraries are adequately resourced with books students want to read and if not what authors or genres they would like in their class library.

Performing Arts

Following Anzac Day, the students of MPS all participated in their own individual class services to commemorate the fallen. Students from Prep to Year 6 all showed great respect and thoughtfulness in sharing what Anzac Day means and how the music is used to add to the service. In addition to Anzac services during Performing Arts classes, a number of students represented our school and their clubs by attending services in town and laying wreathes or attending to the flags or marching. Students have also started work on learning the lyrics to our National Anthem.
