ENROLMENT FORMS FOR PREP 2023 ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED

Prep enrolments are now being accepted for 2023. The enrolment pack may be collected from the front office, with Kate or Kelly being available to assist with any questions you may have. As you can imagine staffing is dependent upon enrolment figures so the sooner, we are able to finalise student numbers, the sooner we can get our staffing sorted out for next year.

BREAKFAST CLUB

BREAKFAST CLUB: The smell of cooked toast in the morning is a common one at the start of the day for visitors to the school as students access breakfast club. Along with toast; students are able to have milk, apples and oranges. Much of

this is donated by Foodbank and supported by the Bendigo Bank. It is wonderful to know that all students can start the day with a full tummies.

SICKNESS CONTINUES WITHIN THE SCHOOL

A reminder to families that there has been a high number of adults and children reporting sickness. Sometimes this is a COVID positive case reported following a RAT other times it is a head cold or similar. In any event, please continue to use strategies to minimize the spread of infection. Strategies include washing hands, sneezing into your elbow, wearing a face mask and maintaining social distance. I thank you for your support in this matter.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS/GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. This year, all families are invited to participate in the survey.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

FREE COMPUTERS

Please note that the laptops that we are planning to give away have now been fully allocated. These will be prepared, and families will be advised when they are ready to collect. As you can imagine there is some time required to wipe them of existing software and then upload Windows 10. I appreciate your patience.

WEST WIMMERA ATHLETIC NOTICES - CHANGE OF DATE due to Weather - New Date is Next Thursday 25th August

Parents/carers were advised via UeducateUs that the WWSSA athletics has been postponed to Thursday 25th August due to the forecast for showers and the state of ANZAC Park in Warracknabeal. A new permission note will need to be returned indicating your consent for your child/children to be involved.

Reminder for kids to pick up school jumpers from the oval once playtime is over.

The lost and found box is over flowing with them at the moment.

STUDENT ATTENDANCE: EVERY DAY COUNTS

Research shows that the academic and social development of students is affected each day they are absent, and that going to school every day is the single most important part of your child's education. Following the potential disruptions to the social and academic progress of students caused due to COVID-19 over the past two years, it is more important than ever for children to be at school.

If your child is unwell or absolutely cannot attend school for some reason, it is important to let the school know of their absence and the reason why prior to the day if planned or at the start of the day if the absence is not planned. The easiest way to do this is via uEducateUs. Alternatively, you can contact the office at school on 5389 1270.
