Principal's Report

 What a fantastic start to the week we have had. It was wonderful to see all the parents, grandparents and family friends who were able to join us for the picnic lunch and open classrooms on Monday. There were so many excited children who loved having you here to share this occasion with them. Thank you for joining us.

The opportunities for parents to be involved in our school and in particular your child's learning will once again be strengthened through the running of our Student Led Conferences. These will occur in Week 7 of this term with the following schedule;

Monday 29th - 5/6 Brave and 5/6 Adventure

Tuesday 30th - 3/4 Rise and 3/4 Justice

Wednesday 31st - K Empower and 1/2 Discover

Friday 2nd - 2 Pride and K/1 Belong

If you have not yet booked your time, please follow this link http://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/code/t9xgv with Event code: t9xgv, to secure your spot/s. The teachers and students are really looking forward to this opportunity.

Athletics Champions

Due to the wet weather it has taken us quite a bit longer than normal to be able to hold our shotput and discus events. These have now been completed and we have calculated the age champions for 2022. A huge congratulations goes to;

Junior Girls Champion: Amara S

Junior Boys Champion: Oliver L

Senior Girls Champion: Eilidh M

Senior Boys Champion: Theo B

Well done to all of our competitors!

100 Days of School

100 Days of School

Since the beginning of the year K Empower and K/1 Belong students have been counting each school day and last week we reached an important milestone - 100 Days of School! To celebrate this momentous occasion students were invited to dress up as a 100 year old person. The students looked amazing and we thank our families for putting together such fabulous outfits. Students participated in a range of educational activities exploring the number 100. We continued our celebration into the afternoon with a party, photo booth and disco. What a fantastic day! Congratulations for achieving 100 Days of learning and growth, we are super proud of you.

Library News

Book Week this year is being held in Week 6 from 22 - 26 August. We will be celebrating with a parade on Monday 22 August. The theme this year is 'Dreaming with eyes open'. We are encouraging students to come dressed as a character from a book that suits this theme or just their favourite character from a book they enjoy. We will then move into literature based activities for the morning. All families and community members are welcome to attend the parade.

Last week, the students have been given issue 5 of Book Club. As a promotion for Book Week, any parents making a LOOP (online) order from this issue will be given the opportunity to receive some free books. If $30 is spent in one transaction, you will be entitled to select 1 free book at checkout. If $50 is spent in one transaction, you will be entitled to select 2 free books at checkout. If $70 is spent in one transaction, you will be entitled to choose 3 free books at checkout. These books are subject to substitution if the chosen title is unavailable. Please note this is only a LOOP offer and does not apply to orders handed in at the office. All LOOP orders must be placed with a registered account to qualify for the promotion and the LOOP app must be upgraded to the latest version.

 In other news, a number of students have been unable to borrow recently, because they already have several books at home. If your child hasn’t brought home a book for a while, could you please have a look on bookshelves or under beds? It would be great for each child to be able to borrow regularly, as we have new books coming into our collection all the time.

Education week

What a wonderful celebration of Public Education this week has been. Thank you to all the friends and families who were able to join us on Monday to celebrate this wonderful occasion. The smiles on the faces of our students as they shared their picnic with their families and then invited you into their classrooms was infectious. They beamed with pride as they demonstrated their learning and taught you how they solve problems, explain their thinking in maths and conduct STEM challenges. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for the picnic and the open classrooms, it was an absolute pleasure to have you all back in our rooms sharing learning with your children.

Award recipients

Congratulations to the following students who have received awards this week. It is wonderful to hear about the achievements you are having in the classroom, playground and across all areas of our school. Well done.
