Zone Athletics Carnival

Last week we were finally able to run the 100m and 200m heats for our Zone Athletics Carnival. I would like to thank our General Assistant, Mr Markovski for preparing a section of the oval where we could run these safely, Miss Andrews for her perseverance in organising and reorganising the event numerous times due to wet weather, and Mr Kilpatrick for ensuring that all heats were run with out a hitch on Tuesday and Wednesday last week.

Today our fastest runners from each age group are representing Rydalmere Public School in the Zone Carnival. I am very proud of their efforts and wish them all the best.

Staffing Update

Over the past fortnight, we have been running a merit selection panel to appoint an Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction for Rydalmere Public School. This is a newly created position. The successful candidate will begin their work with us in Term 1 2023.  I hope to have more news for you in a few weeks time, but for now, I would like to thank our P&C representative, Linda Tuerhong, our teacher representative, Mrs Green, and our Director's representative, Andrew Armitage for giving up their time to assist in the process.

Science Week Wrap Up

Science Week 2022 was a great success!

Students enjoyed learning about one of the most important materials in existence and made their own stained-glass windows, sun catchers, kaleidoscopes and experimented with refraction.

None of this would have been possible without the help of the following colleagues. I would like to thank:Mrs Martelli and Miss Andrews for their valuable input and suggestions into the activities, Mrs Kushturian for securing some of the miscellaneous (and hard-to-find) materials in a timely manner and Mrs Konstantinidis for lending a helping hand with preparing the materials for students to use.

Mr Quach,

Science Teacher

Book Week

We celebrated Book Week in many ways. Firstly we started off with our Book Fair, thank you to the families for participating in this fun experience. We are sure the children enjoyed their purchases and are anticipating the arrival of any extra orders.

We then had a wonderful turnout of families for our Book Parade which was fantastic to see. We had some amazing book character costumes from students and staff from Preschool to Year 6.

Finally, we finished off the day with an incursion matching this year's book week theme, Dreaming with Eyes Opened. Which all of the children enjoyed. The learning continued within our classrooms as the teachers prepared a range of lesson to develop the student's appreciation for a range of great children's literature.

Student Wellbeing

Attendance Matters

We are reviewing our attendance procedures and you may notice some changes over the coming weeks.

When students are absent from school, parents or carers are required to provide an explanation within 7 days of the first day of absence.  If your child is away from school, you will receive text message or email that day advising you that they are away and reminding you to provide an explanation.  After three days, if no explanation has been received , you will receive an email automatically generated by our roll marking system, reminding you to provide an explanation.  If an explanation has not been provided after 7 days, the absence is automatically changed to 'unjustified'.  You will be notified by email if this occurs.

If you are experiencing difficulties bringing your child to school, we may be able to help. Please contact your child's teacher or the school office to arrange a time to meet and discuss the issues.

Community Hub News

Dear Families,

Can you believe that we are already in the 8th week of this term.

Hub has a new program called Creators. We met on 23rd August Tuesday. With the help of Bunnings, we received heaps of material to make gifts for the Father’s Day stall. 7 ladies and 2 young helpers were able to finish 11 mobile organisers, 6 money boxes, 3 painted aprons, 2 tea coasters and 10 key rings. Creators met again on Friday the 26th August and made more of the products.

The products were  donated to P and C and sold at the  Father’s day Stall.

Art club is meeting on 2nd of September after the dance fitness session. It is a free program. Come along and see what Linda has planned for us this time.

Do you have any ideas for hub programs? What do you like to continue at the hub? Do you have any concerns with any existing programs? Please feel free to contact me and we can discuss.

For more updates please follow our face book page. For those who haven’t met me, I am Seetha, Community Hub leader at the school. I am a good listener and eager to meet you. Feel free to join any programs or to just have a chat with me.

Cheers,

Seetha.
