From the Leadership Team

Hello from Leadership

Principal: Julie Raggett

Hello everyone, I am very excited to be part of the Dernancourt School community and I thank you all for the warm welcome. I have very much enjoyed getting to know the staff, students and families, and it has been great to have the opportunity to say hello to many of our Dernancourt families in the yard before and after school. If you see me out in the yard, please come up and say hello.

My most recent position was as Principal Consultant for the Felixstow 1 Partnership, prior to this I have been a leader at Highgate School and Norwood Primary School. I also spent many years at Renmark Primary School as both a teacher and leader. I live with my husband, Adrian, my two girls, Katie (Year 12) and Emily (Year 11) and our dog, Wilson.

Deputy Principal: Kym Dinedios

Hi everyone, thanks for the warm welcome I have received starting at Dernancourt. It has been lovely to meet lots of families already. I look forward to working closely with students, families and staff to support the teaching and learning of all our Dernancourt children. My last position was at Keithcot Farm PS at Wynn Vale in a similar role. I am married and have 2 boys of my own. One in year 2 at Modbury West PS and one in Year 9 at Modbury High School.

A message from Julie

Welcome back to the 2023 School Year! It has been great to see the school come alive with students and their families. It has been wonderful to see and meet many smiling and happy students and families as we returned for the school year.

We are all looking forward to seeing many of you at our ‘Meet and Greet’ on Tuesday 14th February from 5pm-6pm. This will be a great opportunity to visit classrooms and chat informally with your child’s teacher. Specialist classrooms will be open to visit, and Kym (Deputy Principal) and I are looking forward to the opportunity to meet you.

Our Governing Council Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 28th February at 7pm in the staffroom. In 2023, we are looking for new members to join our Council. The Governing Council usually meet twice per term, (Tuesday, Week 3 and Week 8 from 7pm) and meetings usually go between 60-90 minutes, depending on the agenda. There will be more information sent out next week, including information on how to nominate to join the Council.

School Crossing and Road Safety

A friendly reminder to use the school crossing on Parsons Road. The crossing is manned by trained student volunteers and staff before and after school. We want all of our students to arrive at school safely! We know how busy the streets surrounding the school can get at drop off and pick up times, and the ‘drop off zone’ on Parsons Road near the Junior Primary gate is there to support traffic to flow efficiently and provide a safe place to stop to drop off/pick up your child. It is important to remember that drivers need to remain in their vehicle, and that this is a not a place for parking. Thanks for helping keep our students safe.
