Hello all families
We are flying through the term and it is wonderful to see students excited to be at school and engaging with learning activities across all stages.
Harmony Day
The SRC have come together cohesively as a group and for their first event have planned wonderful activities to celebrate Harmony Day, culminating in a school disco.
Harmony week is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. It’s a time to reflect on the importance of respecting each other and our differences.
Harmony Day celebrations will be held at school on Wednesday 23 March. Students are asked to wear rainbow colours and bring along a gold coin donation. The SRC will then donated all money raised to a flood appeal to support students from Lismore.
A sincere display of empathy and concern for others was evident at the first SRC meeting and members have chosen to specifically help other primary school students significantly impacted by the floods.
Year 6 Leadership Camp
Outstanding behaviour and an exceptional display of student maturity was witnessed at the Year 6 Leadership Camp at the Youth Centre last week. Students worked in groups to establish what being a leader means and what the common ideas about being a leader are.
Over the two days students developed leadership skills, cooked, cleaned, laughed, danced, created short movies and completed many resilience building team games and activities with a great attitude. The excursion culminated in students writing their personal goals on a piece of pine board, then with clear and supported instructions from Pak Adam one by one with bare hands and focused intentions smashed through their boards, consequently smashing through their personal goals.
Every student was successful in using their directed personal power and intention to sever their board. This activity was empowering for every Year 6 Leader within our school. Each Year 6 Student received their Peer Leadership badge during Monday mornings school assembly.
Our Year 6 Leaders are now trained, confident and ready to take on the leadership role within their school. Peer groups will be announced on Monday with all students across the school participating in the Harmony Day activities in their newly formed Peer Groups.
Scotts Head Public P & C
It was fantastic to see a new P & C committee formed for 2022. We welcome aboard Carly, Anita, Kate and Janet. We look forward to the year ahead and welcoming parents and families back on site and into the school with upcoming events and functions.
A big heartfelt thankyou on behalf of the school to our outgoing committee members Jo, Rochelle and Jess. Thank you for all the time and energy you have contributed over the years with dedication in your roles on the P & C and in supporting our students and families in so many ways.
