Holy Trinity Primary Granville

Term 4 Week 3 - 1st November 2019

From the Leadership Team

Jason Fisher | Assistant Principal

Dear Parents and Friends,

At HTG we are very lucky to work with academic partners that improve teacher learning. One such academic is Dr Ann Downton. She is a professor at Monash University and specialises in Mathematics. She has visited our school several times this year to work with our teachers in Kindergarten - Year 2. Our very dedicated teachers implement great engaging tasks that challenge the students.

One thing we have changed this year is Launch, Struggle, Support and Extend. This means that in Mathematics we launch a task and get the children to think/struggle with it for around 10mins without teacher intervention, the students have an opportunity to work it out. After the ten minutes struggle time, the teachers support those that need it and extend those that need to be extended.

What we have found this year, is the struggle engages the children for longer and the children are able to use strategies to work out problems.

HTG Talks

All the children are busy preparing and presenting speeches in class for our 2019 HTG Talks. Children will be selected to present speeches at our Celebration of Learning on Friday November 8 at 9.15am

Kinder Assembly

Kindergarten presented a fantastic assembly on Wednesday morning. They shared an information report about platypuses, an artwork about echidnas, sang about Australian animals and concluded with a song about how we follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Congratulations to all our kindergarten students.

Religious Education News | Mark Galea

All Saints Day:  Today is All Saints Day, the day we honour those who have entered heaven. Mass times will be at 8:15am and 7:00pm. (9:15 at Holy Family)

Tomorrow is All Souls Day. On this day we remember and pray for relatives and friends who have departed earth and awaiting entry into heaven. Mass times: 8:15am at Holy Trinity. 9:15am at Holy Family.

Grandparents Day:  It was wonderful to be able to celebrate with our community and especially our grandparents last Friday. The role that grandparents play in their grandchildren's lives cannot be underestimated. It is a special bond of love like no other, a love which is unconditional. Thank you to all families who were able to join us.

Remembrance Day:  On the 11th of November we will be remembering the brave Australians who have fallen in military service for our country. It is an important tradition which helps the children develop the respect deserved by those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our peaceful nation. We will be having a liturgy and service in Mary MacKillop Hall at 11:00am and would like all families join us.

Save The Date:  We have some wonderful celebrations happening at the end of this term. Please note the following times and dates in your diaries.

  • Tuesday 10th December:  Year 6 Graduation at 6:00pm followed by supper.

  • Thursday 12th December:  End of Year Christmas Celebration. 6:00pm. (All children)

  • Friday 13th December:  Advent Mass with Delany, followed by morning tea and awards ceremony.
