Easter Holiday Edition

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

A Personal Invitation to Open Day!

We would love to personally invite you and your family and friends to our Open Day on Thursday, 9 May 2019 from 9.00am - 10.30am.

This day is an excellent opportunity for you to come and see your child working in the classroom or maybe see parts of our school you may not have visited before.

School tours will be conducted during the morning or you can take a self-directed tour where you will see classroom activities, our specialist physical education, music, IT, science and language activities, Art Gallery displays and more.  Families may book a tour or just come along.

We hope you will be able to attend our Open Day and invite family and friends along to see our school community.

See you there!

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data for School Students with Disability

Our school is again taking part in a national project about students with disability and/or learning needs. We have been asked to provide data about the number and learning needs of students in our school. The name of the school and the name of the students will not be reported. Information about the different types of needs and adjustments used to support students with additional educational needs will be collected.

We believe it is important to contribute to this as it will enable all Australian governments to better target support and resources to benefit students with disability.

At the start of Term 2, a letter will be sent to all parents and carers of students who we believe may fit one or more of the broad categories of disability (cognitive, physical, sensory and social/emotional) and currently have adjustments provided for them at school. Please note that this can include students with learning difficulties in basic literacy and numeracy.

Involvement in the Project is optional. If you do not want our school to provide data about your child to the Australian Government Department of Education, you can ‘opt-out’ by completing and returning the opt-out form that will accompany the letter to the school or contacting the school on the number below.

If you have any questions about the 2018 data collection please contact Sandra Tielen-Fry/Geri Austring (R-12) on 8265 2077.  Further information about the project can be found at http://www.schooldisabilitydatapl.edu.au/
