Dear St Mary's School Community

Welcome Back

Welcome Back to what promises to be a very busy Term Four!  It was lovely to see all the children back on Monday looking resplendent in their summer uniforms – it seems as though everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Welcome Wednesday

it was great see parents and other family members at school for Welcome Wednesday.  This will take place every Wednesday morning until 9.00am with the last day being Wednesday of Week Eight, 27 November. 

Picasso and His Dog

The Year Five and Six students went to a wonderful show at Cummins Theatre on Tuesday titled “Picasso and His Dog” The show was based on the true story of Pablo Picasso and his dog. The show had a unique blend of puppetry, live performance and art-making which the staff and students enjoyed.

T20 Blast Cricket Cup

The Year Three to Six classes had a great time at the T20 Blast Cricket Cup with Merredin College today.  There was a lovely atmosphere and the St Mary's students showed lots of sportsmanship and most importantly they had fun!  Thank you to parent helpers Marcia Sayers, Narelle Millington and Shay Creagh and to Elisha Criddle for her coordination.

Important Dates:

Term Four is always busy as we all prepare to finish the school year and prepare for Christmas could I ask St Mary’s families to highlight the following dates and events in their calendars:

  • Monday, 25 November:  AGM of the School Board and P&F at 7.00pm
  • Wednesday, 4 December:  School Concert at 5.30 pm
  • Thursday, 11 December:  Year Six Graduation at 5.30pm . (The date and time have changed.)
  • Friday, 13 December:  Farewell Assembly and Thank You Morning Tea

More information about each event will be sent home prior to it taking place.

GREEN Day

The Environmental Ministry are holding a GREEN day on Wednesday, 23rd October. 

Everybody is encourage to wear green for a gold coin donation. Funds  raised will be used to purchase  new recycle bins for the classroom. 

St Mary's School has also registered for the ‘Clean School’ program to reduce litter and keep our school Green and Clean.

Thank You to Mrs Sonya McCormack and the Environmental Ministry for all their effort and hardwork to ensure that sustainability is at the forefront here at St Mary's.

Parish Raffle Tickets

If families have not already done so, could they please return their Parish Raffle books and money to the school office ASAP.  This includes unsold ticket booklets also.

Festa Italiana

The Year Three children will be performing ‘Il Pappagallo’ (their assembly item) at Festa Italiana on Saturday at 12.00pm at the Rec Centre.  Thank you to Miss Walsh for preparing the students.  And a big thank you to the Year Three students and their families who are able to attend and perform!  If you are at the Festa, please go along and support our students!

St Joseph’s Northam

Mrs Andrea Woodgate, Principal of St Joseph’s College in Northam will be visiting St Mary’s to speak to the Year Three to Five students about her school as a Secondary School option on Wednesday, 23 October at 11.00am in the Hall.  This visit was due to take place in Term Two but had to be postponed.  All parents are welcome to attend.

Parent Helpers

Thank you to those parents/caregivers that have volunteered their time to enable our Tuckshop to run. 

If you are unable to attend your shift, please organise to swap with someone else on the roster.

Please note that non parents (grandparents and other caregivers) are more than welcome in our tuckshop however will be required to provide a current Working With Children Check.  If you have not done so already can you please provide a copy to the office when you sign in for your shift.
