TERM 4 WEEK 8, 2022

A Message from the Principal

Dear parents/carers,

The end of the school year is rapidly approaching. On Thursday we will hold our annual presentation day to acknowledge some  student achievements but every student in our school will have achieved many individual goals across the year, developing a range of skills and capabilities. Selection of award winners is always a difficult process with teachers agonising over their selections and finding it difficult to narrow down choices. Reports which go home later this week will highlight your child's learning achievements and detail their effort across the semester. The effort rating is the most important rating on your child's report, children vary in ability and the age of students in each grade can vary more than 18 months which also impacts their learning. Effort indicates how much the child is trying and how well they work in class. Please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher if you wish to discuss their progress.

December 16th 2022 is the last day for all of our K-6 students and Preschool WTF group. Preschool MTW group finish on Tuesday 13.12.22. School resumes for Years 1-6 on Tuesday 31.1.23.

regards

Gabrielle Buczynski

COVID Guidelines Term 4

Please help keep our school community safe by observing the following COVID measures.

  • Keep children home  if unwell until  free of symptoms, even if they  have a negative RAT or PCR.
  • If your child has symptoms  we recommend you administer a rapid antigen test.
  • There is no longer a mandatory isolation period but let us know if your child tests positive and they must stay home until they are well.
  • Mask wearing is strongly encouraged, we ask that  any children who are returning to school after having COVID wear a mask for a few days.
  • It is  strongly encouraged that all eligible students and their families to get vaccinated for COVID-19 and the flu.
  • We will continue to support our families to use rapid antigen tests (RATs) if symptomatic or if you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19. Please let us know if you need extra RATs.

Let's Dial Up Attendance!

What does attendance look like at PHPS?

Regular attendance at school is important for students at our school to reach their full potential. The Learning and Support team are looking very closely at attendance and parents will receive a letter to explain how many days their child has been absent for in the past 10 week period.

Currently we have 137 students whose attendance is below 85%. 85% attendance equals 30 days (6 weeks) of absences across the school year.

Students with more than 95% attendance will receive a Penny Possum ticket with their letter in celebration of their attendance at school. This can be placed in their class Poss Box to contribute to their class reward.

Let's work together to improve school attendance and make a positive difference to education and learning at Pendle Hill Public School.

Warmest,

Nicole Hogan
