FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Assembly

Dawn Service

A massive thank you to all those families that attended the Dawn Service in Brunswick Heads. Our children did an amazing job singing Lest we Forget under the guidance of Janet.

A special mention to Arabella, one of our school captains, for reading out all the ANZAC poems in front of a huge crowd.

Staff Development Day - Aboriginal Education

Our staff had an excellent Development Day on Monday last week. The whole day was centered around Aboriginal Education.

We were lucky enough to watch Luku Ngara and then do a tour of the parklands in Mullumbimby with Delta Kay.

Both events were an incredible experience for us all, confirming the fact that the First Nations people of Australia have a rich history and culture that should be celebrated and acknowledged within our education system and more broadly across all of Australia.

Change to Bell Times

We are running a three week trial of a change to our bell times. The SRC requested that we make our break more even in time so we are giving it a shot! The trial bell times are:

9:00 - 11:15 - Morning Session

11:15 - 11:50 - Lunch

11:50 - 1:25 - Middle Session

1:25 - 2:00 - Recess

2:00 - 3:00 - Last Session

Parent Teacher Interviews

Our teachers are holding parent teacher interviews all week. We can't wait to talk with you about how your children are going.

Safe on Social

A huge thanks to Alex Warland for organising for our children and parents to engage with Safe on Social.

Many other local schools use this organisation to teach families how to stay safe when using anything and everything related to the internet.

A note will be coming home today with all the details. You can also visit their website by clicking the link below.

Fortnightly Rotations

We will continue our fortnightly Wednesday rotations where our children learn across a variety of teachers. Our first session is this Wednesday.

Brazil Kidz and Mrs Jones - Soccer

Janet - Music

Mr Q - Gardening and chickens

Mrs Cox - Drama

Mrs Rowland - Visual Arts

Kindergarten do a smaller rotation while they settle into school.

Our amazing soccer coach, Alex, will finish up his sessions in week 4. After that we will have Mullum Circus Arts working with our classes for four sessions per class.

While our classes are in these rotations, our class teachers will be reflecting on their goals in Mathematics and Reading. They will also have reflection and coaching sessions with Will and Nikki.

School Assets

The assets team have been working hard to improve our school infrastructure. Over the holidays they lined and insulated our COLA to make it more comfortable for our kids. Our water tanks were cleaned late last term and our Orica water filters were changed just last week.

We have also had our tree work completed over the holidays ensuring that the glorious trees around our school remain healthy and to keep our kids safe.
