"Let us all commit ourselves to imploring peace, from our balconies and in our streets, may the leaders of nations hear people's plea for peace."
(Easter Sunday mass led by Pope Francis in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, Sunday, April 17, 2022)
Welcome to Term 2. We are being eased into the term with a short week and I am very excited to be back amongst our school community as we embark on another term together.
Yesterday was the first Anzac day in two years that Australians could attend commemorations for the anniversary of the day Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed on the beaches of Gallipoli in 1915 as part of the Allies' invasion. We recognise more than 1.5 million men and women who have served Australia in all conflicts, wars and peacekeeping operations and remember some 102,000 Australians who lost their lives while serving.
This year is the 75th anniversary of Australia's involvement in peacekeeping operations and also the 30th anniversary of the Australian Defence Force deployment to Somalia from 1992 to 1995.
You are very welcome to join us for our Whole School Alleluia Day Mass this Friday at 11am.
Triple P is a university-developed Australian program used successfully around the world, and is supported by a significant number of research trials. More than half a million Australians have done a Triple P program in the past six years. The program offers online courses to help support children’s emotional wellbeing and mental health.
The Victorian Government has supported access to the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program since June 2020 and it is now available to all families in Victoria free of charge.
Our school has been selected to host the Federal Election this year which is a great chance for us to showcase our great school and also a fundraising opportunity. Pencil in the date to vote and volunteer for our Sausage sizzle! More details to follow.
All students are invited to attend Running Club; however, junior students (P - 2) must be accompanied by a parent. All students (P - 6) must bring a completed permission slip (see the attached document) before being allowed to attend any sessions.
During Running Club, students will use the bike/walk path that leads to Kings Park in Upper Ferntree Gully. In the case of inclement weather, fitness work and exercises will be held in the school hall.
If you have any questions about Running Club please contact Tess Farry.
Just a reminder - we are having a Mother's Day Stall on Thursday May 5th. A notice with further details and volunteer requests will be sent home shortly.
Also, a Mother's Day High Tea is being held on the same day. See invitation earlier in this newsletter.
