On the 7th of March 2023 I had the championship golf tournament. The season lasted 3 months. We used a point system for the whole season. On the last day of the season, I won, I also won 60 points which made me the champion of the boys 10 age group. I love golf because I love the sound of the ball falling into the hole. by Ethan P 5/6R

You still have until Tuesday 28 March 8am to buy your Yidaki raffle tickets - all proceeds will go directly to the TĂĽrkiye & Syria Earthquake Relief Fund

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L)

What is 'Positive Behaviour for Learning'?

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) is an evidence-based framework that brings together the whole-school community to contribute to developing a positive, safe and supportive learning culture. The framework assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people.

When PB4L is implemented well, teachers and students have more time to focus on relationships and classroom instruction. Students and staff benefit from:

  • reduced inappropriate behaviour
  • increased time focused on instruction
  • improved social-emotional wellbeing
  • positive and respectful relationships among students and staff
  • support for teachers to teach, model and respond effectively to student need
  • a predictable learning environment where staff and students know what is expected to deliver effective practices that can be sustained over time

Incorrect Payments

There have been some instances where people are paying twice for items, or the incorrect amount. Please check prior to making an online payment.

Absences

If your child is absent from school please email the school balmain-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au or balmainps@gmail.com, or alternatively enter it on the SKOOLBAG APP. Always include your child's first and last name and class in the SUBJECT LINE, so they can be forwarded promptly to the class teachers.

Kindy Parents/Carers

Sometimes children have 'accidents'. Where possible, we provide them with a clean dry change of clothes. Please keep spare underpants and socks in their bag, just in case.

Dropping off/collecting your child

If you are collecting your child early or dropping them off late, please come to the Office window on Eaton Street. Squeeze 'Bill' the Duck and we will organise a note for the student.  Also, if you are dropping anything off for your child, please ensure all items are LABELLED with full name & class.

Payments online

If you are paying for excursions etc, please go to the School website and click on the 'make a payment' tab and follow the prompts. You can also pay through the Skoolbag app. Also, at the top of each week's newsletter, under 'Useful Links', there is a tab, 'Make a payment'.

SPOTLIGHT ON...

3/4 MACARONI!!!!!

3/4M entered Week 8 with a spring in their step, ready to take on the week! We learned how to use fact, exaggeration and emotive language, as persuasive writing techniques. We got our focus brains in gear to work on reading comprehension strategies, showed all the things we knew about fractions, as well as welcomed our learning and engagement ministers in for a fun maths scavenger hunt! In music, we have loved composing and performing our own rhythms and moving to some familiar ones! 4M joined forces with the rest of Year 4 to invent and present creative uses for everyday objects. We 'grew' a gratitude tree to help us appreciate the little things. We had a great week, all under the watchful eye of our class mascot, Mac.
