PLPs
PLPs started this week and will be running until wk 7. Please take advantage of this opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss priorities for the year. Thank you for everyone who has replied to the invitation to the meetings. There is still time to RSVP if you haven’t already. If the time given to you is not suitable, there is some flexibility in times and days. Your contribution to the process is essential in making sure the priorities in your child’s Personalised Learning Plan/Pathways are the best ones for him/her at this time. It is also helpful for us to make sure all our details are up to date. It has been great to see some of the Acacia, Myrtle, Waratah and Banksia parents so far.
Afternoon pick up routine reminders
Thank you to everyone who is following the request that no-one parks in the kiss and drop in the afternoons until 2:30pm unless picking up a student early. It has been working really well except for one day that there was a NNPS Kindergarten event on. It makes a much safer afternoon routine. When you do come into the kiss and drop remember to leave the bus bay gates area free to allow buses to safely drive in and out.
Term 1 RAP award activities
Each term in PBL we encourage a whole school effort towards achieving a whole school reward. If 70% if students get at least one RAP award in the term, everyone will get a “whole school” reward. The whole school RAP award activity for this term is “Movies and Popcorn”. Each class will choose an appropriate movie and appropriate “snack” for the students in their class. It will be held in Week 11. The Principal party will still be happening for those students who get 7 RAP awards in the term (it might have a chocolate egg theme!).
TAFE
There are two students who started a TAFE course this week. Emily and Grace are enrolled in Certificate II in Baking. I look forward to seeing what yummy creations they bring back each week! Thank you to the P&C who have given us a bus and driver to drop the students off and pick them up each week.
Voluntary Contribution Fee and Parent / Carer Support
Thank you to everyone has supported the school with the voluntary contribution and/or by donating a box of tissues, disinfectant wipes and baby wipes. Every individual contribution helps us provide more resources and specialist programs for your children. If you would like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to call the school on ph: 4421 3777.
Attendance
Why must I send my child to school?
The law in NSW states that all children between the ages of six and seventeen years are required to attend school regularly (Education Act 1990). It is the responsibility of parents or caregivers to make sure that their children attend school every day.
Why is regular attendance at school important?
Attending school every day makes learning easier for your child and helps build and maintain friendships. If students miss the basic skills, they may also have problems later on. Regular attendance prevents gaps in the acquisition of essential skills which leads to improved student learning outcomes.
Regular attendance at school will help build social confidence in your child and help them to succeed in later life.
Did you know?
If a student is absent for just one day a week or 10 days per term, it adds up to over 2 years of lost learning time by the time the student reaches Year 10.
