Term 4 Week 3

Message from the Principal

We have reached the busy time of the school year, where there are lots of planned activities and events to acknowledge and celebrate the year of learning. We know that this places additional financial strain on some families and I want to remind you that we are here to help if you need. Our goal is that every student is able to participate in school activities, please let us know if you need our assistance. Staff are very busy assessing and analysing data as they write student achievement reports. It takes a lot of work to produce a school report as we want to ensure that they provide an accurate reflection of your child's progress at school. In addition, we are also planning and preparing classes for 2023. Please let us know if you are leaving our school or if you know of anyone intending to start at our school next year as soon as possible. We are hoping to set classes and allow students time in their new classes with their 2023 teacher before the end of the year.

Unfortunately, one of our events is likely to be cancelled tomorrow. The annual School Swimming and Water Safety Program for students in years 2-6 will not be able to go ahead as we do not have enough children enrolled to participate in this program. We hope that we will be able to provide this program again next year.

I must remind everyone that the driveway is not a safe space for students to enter or exit the school. I am seeing an increasing number of students in this high traffic area. Parents and carers are only permitted to park in the driveway with approval from the principal and must display a permit to do so. Requests for permits are made via the office. The parking rangers have also been visiting again recently and will issue fines for parking and driving infringements.

I would like to ask the parents and carers of students in Year 6, to speak to their children about our expectations for respect and kindness towards others. We want all of our Year 6 students to enjoy their final months of Primary School so that they take fond memories of their learning and their friends with them to high school. It is important to end their time at Towradgi being the best version of themselves they can be.

Learning is a lifelong endeavour, and it is something that all of our staff participate in regularly so they can continue to be the best they can be. Recently, Mrs Kelly and Miss Emms completed a learning journey by presenting information to a range of local schools about our commitment to Inclusivity. They did an amazing job and I have received multiple compliments and congratulations for the work they shared.

Finally, I will be away for most of next week, learning with Principals from all over the country at the National Principals' Conference. Mr Santos and Miss Emms will be Relieving Principal in my absence.

Congratulations to our Leading Learners Mrs Kelly and Miss Emms.

Hats Off! to all of our wonderful teachers on World Teachers' Day 2022.

Remembrance Day

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Friday the 11th of November 2022, Towradgi Public School will be pausing to remember those men and women who have served our country.

We will be holding a small Remembrance Day assembly to commemorate the event.

If students would like to bring in some flowers to lay under our flag pole during the assembly they are more than welcome.

Kind Regards

Towradgi Teachers

We have been so excited to meet our incoming 2023 Kindergarten students. They have come along to our orientation sessions and had so much fun making friends, meeting the teachers and learning all about being at school. We can't wait until they start big school next year!

If you have a child who will be starting Kindergarten in 2023 make sure you enrol now. If you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident you are eligible to complete the online enrolment application. You will then need to finalise the application at the school. If you are not eligible or prefer not to enrol online you can visit our school to complete the process. If your child does not live within our intake area you can complete an out-of-area enrolment. Out-of-area enrolment procedures are subject to the department's enrolment policy.

School Run4Fun Colour Explosion

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you so much for supporting our school, especially through fundraising. This term, we are hosting a Colour Explosion School Fun Run to help us fundraise for Year Six farewell and gift to the school. To achieve our goal, we need to raise $2000 as a school community.

When is the Colour Explosion School Fun Run? We will be hosting our Colour Explosion School Fun Run on Friday 28 October from 2pm to 2:40pm. Make sure students bring a WHITE shirt to wear during the Fun Run. They will be covered in non-toxic, biodegradable colour powder from head to toe!

Is the powder safe? The non-toxic colour powder is made of high-quality corn starch and permitted food colours, so it’s safe for skin and eyes. Students with asthma are advised to be careful in their decision to participate.

How does my child fundraise? Fundraising is easy – simply follow the instructions outlined in your child’s sponsorship booklet. Your child can accept donations online by creating a cybersafe fundraising profile at
www.australianfundraising.com.au . You can also collect cash donations with your sponsorship booklet. Please return your donations before 21 October 2022.

Raise more! Earn more! Students automatically achieve incentive prizes as they fundraise, starting from $10. Each prize is ordered automatically, so you don’t need to worry about prize ordering! You can see what the incentive prizes are in the attached sponsorship booklet.

Share in $200,000 worth of extra prize credit! Achieve bigger prizes by helping your child earn bonus credit on their online profile. By creating an avatar, sharing your page with friends and reaching milestone donations, you can share in $200,000 of extra prize credit!

Monstar Madness. There are heaps of prizes you can win when you fun-raise with Monty! Create your fundraising page in the next 7 days, and you will receive a Holographic Monty Sticker! Check out your sponsorship booklet for more awesome Monty prizes up for grabs, like a Monty Plush toy, a bag tag or a high-bounce handball!

Win a $10,000 JB Hi-Fi Shopping Spree. Do you think you can top our school’s leader board?
