Hello Everyone
It was so wonderful to have a Life Long Learner assembly this week. Congratulations to the Student Councillors who ran the assembly for the first time this year. They did a great job and were confident in their presentations. Thank you to all the parents and family members who came along as well. It’s awesome to have you back with us to see your child receive an award and to catch up with everyone. I’m really looking forward to next Monday, to see how many more parents and family members can attend as your child just loves seeing you here, watching them and being a part of their world. So thanks again.
NAPLAN
Next week sees us participating in NAPLAN for all year 3 and year 5 students. Students have been practicing for this and should be fine. It starts on Tuesday and continues through to Friday. Catch up can be done the following week if your child is sick. Now that the majority of NAPLAN is on-line, results should be available sooner, however, Year 3 writing is still done on paper. As soon as your child’s report is sent to us, it will be sent home.
COVID
Please continue to contact the school if your child has a positive result as we are still required to record this information, however, close contacts are no longer recorded. You are now able to be on school grounds, just not in the classroom yet. Feel free to continue to wear a mask if you wish and please continue to go around to the back window to see office staff at this stage.
Unexplained Absences per class
I will begin analysing this data next week, so please remember to let us know via:
· SMS
· Seesaw
· Phone call
· Diary note or
· Letter
As to why your child is away. Hopefully now that COVID has been through our school, we will see fewer absences and less unexplained reasons.
Will your child’s class have the least amount of unexplained absences? You could have some fun and have a guessing competition with your family to see who wins. Losers do the dishes!! Ha ha!
Free Vaccinations 5 – 11 year olds
Rawlinson has agreed to allow the Health Department to come to our school to use it as a place to offer COVID vaccinations. This is not mandatory and the school has nothing to do with this other than providing somewhere for them to offer the service.
I have put information about Protecting Your Child, that they have sent me, in the newsletter and in the glass pin up board near the library, for those wanting more information. If you choose to have your child vaccinated, you must be here with your child.
The vaccine being given is for 5 – 11 year olds. The first clinic is on Wednesday 18th May 2.50 – 4.50pm. More information will be available soon.
After School Canteen
I would like to thank “Rawlie Bites” for taking the initiative to offer food sales after school. This has been very successful and they have some lovely things to purchase.
It would be preferable, if you want your child to purchase food after school, to be with them, as currently students are going to the canteen and then parents are having to go round and round through the drive through when collecting your child.
To avoid this, perhaps park first and then take your child to the canteen so you don’t get frustrated when they are not at the pick-up point on time.

Congratulations to the following students for being elected Faction Captains for 2022.

It is a great honour to be chosen by your peers to represent them as their Leaders. Well done for nominating yourself, writing your speech and winning the position. I know you will do Rawlinson Primary School and yourselves proud. Well done!
