Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to a wonderful Term 2. We have hit the ground running, back into quality learning experiences in each and every classroom.
School Photos
Our whole school, Leader and Year 6 photos will be taken on Wednesday 24 May. Please ensure your child comes to school on that Wednesday in full school uniform ready for the day. Year 6 students will require their school shirt and Year 6 shirts for their photos.
Mother’s Day Breakfast
This morning we hosted our Mother’s Day breakfast. It was great to see so many of our Mum’s attend. Thanks to all the staff for their time and efforts in making this event special for our community.
Mother's Day Stall
Special thanks to Mrs Miller and the P&C for organising our Mother's Day stall on Monday. We hope all our special Mum's have a wonderful day on Sunday.
Staff Carpark
Please remember that there is to be no pedestrian access to our school at all via the staff carpark. This applies for both adults and children. The carpark gate has been used by some families for drop off and pick up times. We ask that the community use the main entrance gate or back gate at pick up times.
Classroom Renovations
We are thankful for our student’s and teacher’s patience whilst we start refurbishments to both A and B Block. Class 4/5 have moved to the hall and will base themselves there until B Block is completed. As a result, as previously sent out, the canteen will be out of action until B Block is completed.
Uniforms
A much cooler start to the week has meant that students are starting to wear winter clothing. Please ensure all jumpers and clothing have students names on them, so any lost items can be easily returned. Don't forget that you can order and pay for uniform items via the Spriggy app or at the school office.
Back to School Vouchers
A reminder that ‘Back to School’ vouchers expire at the end of June. If you still have vouchers to use please see the office to use them on uniforms.
Year 5 Opportunity Class for 2024
Applications for Year 5 entry to an opportunity class in 2024 opened on Thursday 30 March 2023 and will close on Monday 15 May 2023.
Parents must apply by the due date as that date will be strictly observed except under serious and well-documented extenuating circumstances.
Parents apply through the department’s website.
Attendance
Finally, I would like to remind all parents and carers of the importance of attendance. We have fortnightly meetings with the Home School Liaison Officer (HSLO) conducting school attendance checks. At these meeting, the school’s attendance data is discussed and any student whose attendance is below 90% is monitored. Please remember to provide explanations for your child’s absences. This can be done by emailing or calling the school, responding to the School Bytes message or writing a note for the teacher. Late arrivals are required to come to the office and be signed in by parents.
The Importance of arriving on time
Arriving at school and class on time:
- Ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day
- Helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine
- Give students time to greet their friends before class
- Reduces classroom disruption
Lateness is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained by parents.
Kind regards,
Luke McIlvenie | Principal
