Letter from the Principal

Tuesday September 15th 2020

Dear Families

Well done everyone on an amazing Term 3. As we come to the end of the term this week, I am sure some are limping to the finish line and some still have a spring in their step. Whatever your Term 3 experience has been you need to give yourself credit for your positive mindset and resilience and stamina whilst navigating remote learning. I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to our staff, parents and children. You have all been magnificent and certainly have earnt this well deserved holiday break. I hope everyone finds some time to rest and replenish and give thanks for all that has been.

Baby News

We are very excited to announce the news of the safe arrival of Bastian. Baby brother to Faustina & Victoria.

Congratulations on this wonderful news. Mum and baby Bastian are both safe and well.

Term 4 AFL Public Holiday

The Premier of Victoria has recently announced that the Friday before the AFL Grand Final public holiday will be moved from its original date (Friday 25 September) to Friday 23 October 2020.  Friday 23 October 2020 will now be the prescribed public holiday and Friday 25 September 2020 will no longer be considered a public holiday declared or prescribed by the Victorian Government. The Friday before the AFL Grand Final public holiday is based on the AFL playing schedule, which was altered as a result of COVID-19.  There will be no school for children or staff on this day.

Home Learning Fun

When I received these photos from Maddy W of her paper mache art project it took me back to my own childhood. Always lots of fun. I remember making a paper mache fish. I don’t think it turned out quite as spectacular as these paper mache pigs. Well done Maddy. You are quite the artist!

'Wonderfull' World Invitation

Thanks to Carolyn Sombekke our Faith Development Coordinator for the Parish of St John the Baptist for her invitation to “Wonderfull’ World. This invitation is extended to all members of our Parish and is a great opportunity for us to come together for worship, Bible study, and time for laughter as well as time for quiet reflection.

At ‘WonderFull’ World we’ll “travel” to each of the seven continents. While there, we’ll explore

wonders of the heart, such as “I wonder if I matter to God” or “I wonder where God is when life is hard.” We’ll find the answer to each of these questions in the Bible and discover more of God’s amazing love for us. Please see the invitation later in the newsletter for further details of this wonderful initiative.

Welcome to the SSV Virtual Track and Field

All Victorian students are welcome to take part in this great opportunity. There are several ways you can be involved. SSV is not looking for the best performance, we are looking for students to give it a try.

By taking part in this great event, you will not only score points for your school, but you will also be improving yourself every time you try. There is nothing better than self-improvement and personal bests.

Great effort Patrick!

Congratulations to Patrick C in 1/2B who is the first student in our school to compete in the SSV Virtual track and field competition representing St John the Baptist. Patrick has already competed in 6 events and has scored points for our school to get us on to the leaderboard. There are over 200 schools involved, it would be great if we had lots more students join this competition and score points for our school just like Patrick.

Well done Patrick for getting us started, come on everyone let's give it a go and get more points on the board for St. John the Baptist!
GO ST. JOHN'S!
