Term 2 Week 10

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we reach the end of a very busy Term, one which has seen many significant changes to our normal practice and routine, I would like to extend thanks to all involved in supporting our school community in 2020.

Thank you also to our students, who have coped remarkably well with the many changes. Our students have remained settled and positive, embracing changes and working to their best at all times.

Thank you to our parents, community members and school P&C for your continued support of our school as we have worked through the many challenges during the year. We have greatly appreciated this and your ongoing positive feedback.

Thank you to our dedicated and hardworking staff, who have made continual adjustments to their practice over the term, and who have worked tirelessly to ensure we continue to provide the very best for our students at Lithgow Public School.

Today our Semester 1 Student Reports are being sent home. The report for Semester 1 has been adjusted from our normal reporting formal to cater for students learning at home and at school over the semester. Please take the time to read through your child’s report. We look forward to discussing your child’s progress with you in early Term 3.

We have included our brand new Lithgow Public School magnets in the reports this semester. Please help us to promote our school by putting them on your vehicle or where they will provide an opportunity for positive discussion of the great things happening at Lithgow Public School.

As you are aware, student attendance at school is an extremely important factor in ensuring student success in their learning. The school monitors attendance throughout the year. While in the current climate we do ask that students feeling unwell remain at home, we have noticed unusual trends in attendance, such as a lower attendance rate on a Friday.

Please be mindful of your child’s attendance, and, unless they are clearly unwell, aim to ensure they are at school each day to continue in their learning.

Thank you again for another terrific term at Lithgow Public School. Our staff return on Monday 20 July for a School Development Day. We look forward to our students returning on Tuesday 21 July for the beginning of another exciting term!

Kind regards

Congratulations Mr Knight!

"In some exciting staff news, Mr Knight has been honoured by the University of Notre Dame Sydney for his educational work with Indigenous students over the past 9 years. As Indigenous Alumni of the University himself, Mr Knight's name will be added to Honours Board in a ceremony set for later this year. We congratulate him for his extraordinary achievement."

Hartley's Pen Pals

After four long months of anxious waiting, Hartley were over the moon to finally receive their pen pal letter replies from Huntly Primary School in Victoria. The screams of excitement were so loud that people in the coffee shop opposite the school must have wondered what was happening.

Every student was delighted to receive a very special letter from their new pen pal friend. Hartley are now in the process of replying to their pen pal.

Farewell Rosemary

This week we were very sad to say goodbye to our amazing Counsellor, Rosemary Black, who has been with us for the last five years. Rosemary's dedication and care to the students and staff of LPS will be sorely missed. Her days with us have been a joy to all. Take care Rosemary and good luck in your new school.
