This week our students in year 3 and 5 have put their brains to the test and completed the NAPLAN Language Conventions and Numeracy assessments. I have had the pleasure of witnessing the concentration, persistence and grit that our students showed during these assessments. I am very proud of the efforts of each and every year 3 and year 5 student. Well done!
We have a number of exciting events coming up. The first is our Athletics carnival that is being held on Thursday next week (26 May). For this day to run smoothly we are asking that all students be at school early to board the buses at 8:30am. Thank you for assisting us in making this day a success. Parents are welcome to attend and watch from the grandstand. Last year was cold, so please pack warm clothes that students can easily take off for their events and ensure they are clearly labelled. Students will need to bring a hat, water bottle, sunscreen, recess and lunch. There will be a small selection of food at the coffee van for sale, but nothing else.
We will also be hosting a Biggest Morning Tea on 15 June to raise money for cancer research. This will be a whole community event to be held in the hall. All members of our school and wider community are invited to join us for this event. More details will be made available closer to the day.
Being that we are coming into winter there will be lots of colds and flu going around, not to mention COVID. We are seeing a lot of sick students at school and some with very high temperatures. Please do not send sick children to school. Sending them when they are unwell only spreads illness and does not give your child the chance to get better. I appreciate that this can be challenging, but we want what is best for your child and that includes their health and overall wellbeing. Once they are well they will be able to learn and play with their friends.
