Week 6, Term 4 - 20 November 2019

Principal's Post

Dear Parents and Carers,

With this term zooming along there are many events that are on before the end of the year. On Monday, we held our 2020 Swimming Trials. This has replaced our regular swimming carnival at the beginning of the year. There were many reasons behind this change. Timing was one of them, to ensure we maximise our learning time in classrooms with our students in the beginning of the year so that staff develop those crucial relationships, as well as the short timeframe we would have had to get our carnival completed before the regional carnival which is schedule early next year. Our place winners will also be able to get their swim trophies at our leadership assembly in Term 1, 2020 rather than having to wait until the end of the year.

Presentation day is fast approaching. This year we are running two presentation day events. Our K-2 students will attend an infant’s presentation day will be run in the morning on Thursday 12 December at 9:30am. Here all students will receive a certificate for completing their year. Our Primary students will attend an evening event, and this will be for award recipients only and their families. Students and their families will get an invitation in the coming week.

Last week our Kinder 2020 transition sessions and expo finished. I would like to thank all the staff involved in running an engaging process as we get to know the newest members of our school. We can’t wait for them to begin their first day of Kinder.

With lots of events on, please ensure you are reading and responding to all our notes. As we do not want our students or families to miss any of the end of year celebrations.

“Let’s join together today to create a fabulous tomorrow” – unknown

So Close!

Next week will be very exciting as we should reach our last reward of the Inflatable Obstacle Course and with students doing a great job with getting buzz tickets! They are understanding and using the language of 'hands down, feet down' which builds a consistent language and approach across the school. Also keep remembering our previous focus of being a hat hero especially now the weather is warming up this week.

Keep buzzing,

PBL Team

Kindergarten Expo

Thank you to all who contributed and attended our first ever Kindergarten Expo. The feedback was very positive and now could form an important component to the Kindergarten Transition sessions.

A special thank you to the Albury City Council for taking the time to share the OOSH service and the Lavington Library, Albury Wodonga Health for providing information about occupational health and speech therapy. Further to this a big shout out to the LEPS staff and P&C for their dedication to our students by assisting in preparation and supporting families on the night. Well done to all for taking time out of their night to have made it a success.

Our Garden Club is collecting the Woolworths Dicovery Garden Pots

Our beautiful school grounds are constantly evolving with the seasons, we are always replenishing our vegie gardens, herb gardens and flower gardens. The Woolworths Discovery Garden pots are a wonderful way to propagate plants, we would appreciate any of the varieties and as many as you can spare. Our goal is to receive enough 'pots of fun for everyone'! Donations can be placed in the box at the front office.

The Canteen is Closed Every Monday

Just a reminder that the Canteen will not be able to provide any food services to our School Community on any Monday.

The Canteen is open for lunch and recess Tuesday - Friday, with hot food available for purchase. We encourage you to order online/lunch bag if you would like hot food at recess as we can not guarantee availability.

Our canteen will not be able to process sale items prior to 9am. We have a P & C member available to help  students place their lunch order and process payments but no items will be sold.

We appreciate your cooperation and continued support for our canteen.

Monday  CLOSED

Tuesday  9am - 2pm

Wednesday 9am - 2pm

Thursday 9am - 2pm

Friday 9am - 2pm

Did you know our canteen is run by our School P & C?

Did you know the canteen is registered for 'Work for the Dole'?

Do you have 2 hours to spare per week, month, term?

The canteen needs volunteers and is under 'New Management'. If you could lend a hand, the canteen runs Tuesday to Friday 9am to 2pm. However, we are particularly busy between 10am and 12pm.

Children love to see their family members behind the counter. The best part is that no skills are needed! Mums, Dads, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles are all welcome! It's also a good opportunity to share ideas for menu items.

If you have previously volunteered, we would love to see you again! Please see the office for a form to update your details.
