TERM 1 WEEK 11, 2022

A Message from the Principal

Dear parents/carers,

We have appreciated the support of our school community across the term and wish everyone a safe and restful Easter break.

School resumes on Wednesday, 27 April, 2022 for students preschool to Year 6.

Last week we conducted the Selective High School exam on site and students who sat the exam will receive notification of the outcome of their application in late July or early August. Parents are advised to complete enrolment processes with their local or  other preferred school rather than waiting for the outcome of the selective process.

Year 4 and 6 students completed the  Check-in assessments over the past few weeks and Year 3 and 5 students completed NAPLAN readiness tests. This year the NAPLAN test will be on line and will provide  students with different pathways to provide a better summary of each students current strengths and areas of need. The Check-in assessment is an online  assessment of student progress against syllabus outcomes  and will give teachers information about student current strengths and areas of need to inform planning for learning.

Tomorrow you will receive a short report on what your child has been learning in Term 1  and what their next steps for learning will be. The report gives some parent information on ways to support student's learning. We are also holding parent interviews next term and you will have received a note about booking the interview. Please take the opportunity to talk to your child's teacher about their progress by booking an interview.

regards,

Gabrielle Buczynski

Attendance Matters- Be here and on time every day

Our Attendance Facts Term 1

Attendance is importance to student success at school. We are seeking to improve our attendance rates. In Term 2 we are aiming for 90% of students to have 90% or better attendance. It is important for students to stay home if unwell but if your child has frequent absences please  ensure they attend school on every day they can. Each newsletter we will publish the attendance rate to monitor our improvement. Term 1 facts are listed below. Late arrivals are should be mostly avoidable and we should be able to eliminate these altogether if everyone  makes a big effort. In Term 1:

  • 76% of students had 90% or better attendance
  • 60  children had 100% attendance
  • 125 students were late at least once and 17 students were late on more than 10 occasions
