ThinkuKnow - Cyber Safety

Our ThinkUknow parent information night was well attended  and the feedback that I received from the families who attended was all very positive.

 For any parents or carers that were unable to attend the presentation the ThinkUKnow website (https://www.thinkuknow.org.au) is a fantastic resource and full of helpful advice and information.

 The Parents Portal (https://www.thinkuknow.org.au/resources-tab/parents-and-carers) on the ThinkUKnow website address a lot of the concerns parents may have, including covering topics such as:-

 -      Parental controls;

-      Gaming, Social Networking;

-      Online grooming;

-      Sexual extortion;

-      The Family Safety Contract;

-      Additional videos;

-      Where to seek help; and

-      Additional links (resources/research/reporting/support)

 There are various Fact Sheets on topics and the SOS guide to online safety (which is a snapshot and condensed version of the presentation). The web page is continually being updated with information and is a wonderful resource.

Staffing News

It is with mixed emotions that I inform you that Molly Brown will be leaving our school community at the end of this year.  While this is a great loss for us it is wonderful news for Molly and her fiancé Joe.  Joe has secured a new position in Canberra and he will be relocating this year with Molly joining him in 2023.  We are incredibly grateful to Molly for making the decision to stay behind in Melbourne so that she can complete the year with her class.

We will certainly miss you Miss Brown!

Early Dismissal - End of Term 3

Just a reminder that Term 3 finishes on Friday September 16th and children are dismissed at 2.30pm.

Term 4 commences on Monday October 3rd at 8.50am.

Footy Dress Up Day

Friday 16th September is our Annual Footy Dress Up Day.  Children are asked to wear their team colours on this day and bring a gold coin to donate to charity.  Our Year 5/6 students have requested that the funds raised are donated to St Vinnies to support their initiative with the Winter Food Appeal.  We love that our seniors have taken such an active role in fundraising and are so passionate about supporting those in need.

Prime Minister's Spelling Bee

Congratulations Christian!

The results for the Prime Minister's Spelling Bee State/Territory Finals are in and SJB has one student advancing to the National Final which will take place this Thursday 8th September.

Congratulations Christian T (3/4SM) who achieved a perfect score in the State Final last week.  Good Luck Christian, we are all so proud of you!!!!!

R U OK? Day is Thursday 8 September 2022

R U OK? Day is our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, ‘are you OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life.  Our Preps will be leading their first whole school event on this day and you are invited to join us at 2:30 in the hall for our R U OK? Prayer service.

Bunnings BBQ - Saturday September 3rd

We sold out of sausages (75Kg), everyone was shopping for the Dads and it was obviously hungry work!
Thank you so much to all those who helped at the BBQ on Saturday - Janice, Bec, Fleur, Leanne, Cam, Anthony, Siobhan, Claire, Matt and Jenni! It takes a bit of effort on the day and the lead up, but it is a very profitable exercise for us.

Trivia Night

Tickets on sale now, you can buy individually, as a team or a table (8), if you  don’t have a team yet just pop your name in the team box in the link and on the night it can be arranged. We are looking for sponsorship and donation connections, please email the P&F if you can help in any way - Parents and Friends
