Message from Mrs Ellis

On behalf of the teachers at Blaxland Public School, I would like to sincerely thank the school community for your kind words of appreciation and support on World Teacher’s Day on Friday 28th October. The thoughtful movie certainly made us smile! Thank you also to the SASS staff for a lovely morning tea and the slide show about the teachers at Blaxland. Blaxland Public School is a great place to work and learn!

Swim School

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Swimming School program last week at Glenbrook pool. Learning to swim and be safe in water is a vital life skill. The swimming instructors were very impressed with the student’s motivation to improve and develop their swimming skills throughout the week and commented on the exceptional behaviour of our school. This program will be offered again at the same time in 2023.

Dads and Planes

Last Friday 28th October, the Blaxland Public School Fathering Project team held the final Dads and Kids night for 2022. The night was a huge success for both Dads and Kids, the top oval was a sea of flying planes with lots of laughter. Thank you, Ryan, Jason and Adam for your organisation and coordination.

Kindergarten Transition

Kindergarten transition finished this week, it was lovely to meet our new students and their families. All Kindergarten students will be completing the Best Start Assessment in Literacy and Numeracy prior to starting school on Friday 3rd February. All Kindergarten parents have received their interview date and time. Please add this important date to your calendar. We look forward to having you join our school in 2023.

SRC News

Thank you to everyone who has supported our food drive throughout the winter months. Gateway Family Services have been thrilled to receive all of your generous donations. The SRC believe it is important to support our school, local and global communities.

At our meeting today we finalised our proposed plans for this term. We will be having a 'Christmas Giving Tree' that supports the Gateway's New Toy Christmas Drive. Gift ideas include educational toys such as books, drawing implements, Lego/Duplo and sports equipment. Any small donation would be greatly appreciated and can be dropped at the front office.

Due to popular demand, our lunchtime discos will return later in the term! We will keep you posted.

Funds raised from our earlier discos are being used to buy equipment for our sandpit to encourage imaginative play Eg dinosaurs, fairies etc.

In the Garden Term 4 Week 4

What a great couple of weeks in the garden. We harvested broad beans and some of the classes enjoyed broad bean dip with corn chips. If you would like the recipe, jump onto the Blaxland Public School Families Facebook page and I’ll upload it there. As always feel free to wander around the garden and see what’s growing.

At Garden Club next week, we will be preparing some of the beds for new planting, so join us on Monday 2:30-3:00, we would appreciate the company and any help.

Enjoy the photos and Happy Gardening.
