Message from the Principal

SASS Week

Last week was SASS (School Administrative and Support Staff) week, recognising the amazing work our support staff do to keep WWS running smoothly every day.

Our office staff, our support teachers and our grounds staff do brilliant job of making WWS a great place to work and learn. On behalf of all the teaching staff and the school community, thank you for your incredible contribution to our school.

 Bike Safety for Students

It has come to our attention that in recent weeks, a growing number of students are riding their bikes to and from school without wearing a helmet.

By law, all students must wear a helmet when riding their bike. If a student rides to school without a helmet, as is our responsibility, we will call parents to bring a helmet or arrange another way of getting home. Please be assured this is not to cause inconvenience, but rather, to ensure none of our students are at risk of an injury that could easily be avoided.

 Fabulous NAPLAN Results!

Woy Woy South has recently received its 2024 NAPLAN results for students in Years 3 & 5. As has been the case for several years now, WWS continues to improve rapidly in literacy and numeracy. Our results are now consistently above (well above in some areas) NSW state average which is extremely pleasing.

Congratulations to our students and to our hard working, committed teachers, who continually strive to improve learning outcomes for the children. This is an amazing result for the WWS school community and an exciting platform to build on for further success in the years to come.

 Blokes Brekky

Last Friday 30/8, WWS held its annual ‘Blokes Brekky’ to recognise the substantial contribution significant male role models play in the lives of our students. As always, the event was extremely well attended. A big thanks to our staff for the very early start and all the extra work involved in the organisation of the event.

Thanks to our awesome P&C who ran our annual Father’s Day stall, ensuring all students had an opportunity to pick up something nice for Dad.

Kindergarten 2025

The second of our Kindergarten open days will be held next Tuesday, September 10th at 11.45am. We are looking forward to the commencement of our Ready 4 School (R4S) program in Term 4. If you are interested in Kindergarten enrolment for 2025 or know anyone locally who is, please contact the school office for more information.

 Have a great week everyone,

Matt Barr

NCCD Newsletter

Dear parents, guardians and carersRe: Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
  • year of schooling
  • category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
  • level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
  • formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
  • consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
  • develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability. The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
