Be Safe - Be Responsible - Be Respectful - Be Your Best

Wednesday 16 September, 2020 - Term 3 - Week 9 - Issue 30

Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Mufti and Movie Day

The end of Term 3 is almost upon us, with next week being the final week of term. I’m so proud of how our students have just ‘got on with the job’ in what has been another term dictated by restrictions. To celebrate the end of term, we will be holding a mufti and movie day next Thursday, 24 September. Children are able to wear casual non-uniform clothing. Please ensure they wear suitable, closed toed footwear and a broad brimmed hat.

There will no cost for this activity.

Chicken Pox

This week we were notified of a case of Chicken Pox within our school community. As this is a contagious condition and can easily spread, we urge parents and carers to be on the lookout for symptoms in their children and seek medical advice if necessary. Diagnosed cases must be excluded from school. Symptoms and treatment of Chicken Pox can be found in the fact sheet from NSW Health by clicking here or you can call the Public Health Unit on 1300 066 055 for further advice. We thank parents and carers for their ongoing vigilance.

School Photographs

Our school photo day will be held on Wednesday 21 October, 2020 (Week 2, Term 4). Individualised order envelopes were sent home with students on Monday.

Parents/carers are able to order photographs online with MSP Photography using the student’s unique shootkey. Instructions on how to do this is detailed on the order envelope. Please note THIS IS NOT A PARENT ONLINE PAYMENT ACTIVITY, payments go directly to MSP Photography.

Please read the information provided carefully and if you have any questions about the packs, please call MSP Photography on 4261 3009. Order envelopes for sibling photographs are available from the office. Sibling photographs are for students who are enrolled at Tomerong Public School only.

Order envelopes must be returned to school on photograph day. Students should wear their full summer uniform and Year 6 students are invited to wear their Year 6 shirt. We remind parents that if you need to purchase new uniform items for school photo day, orders are now done online through School Locker (see link below).

If your child will be absent on school photograph day, please contact MSP directly on 4261 3009 to discuss alternative arrangements.

Tell Them From Me Survey

A reminder that we are encouraging our families to provide feedback on school life through the Tell Them From Me  Survey. Responses will be used to help set the direction of our school in the next school plan, which will be implemented from 2021-2024.  All answers are anonymous and respondents cannot be identified.

Please click on the link below to complete the survey.

Have a great week,

Rory

"Hello, I am Rory and I am five years old. I have a little sister and she is very cute.

At school, I like working. I like drawing my predictions when Mrs Dilley reads us a story. I like doing our Poetry folder on Fridays. I also like reading groups and my favourite book is 'Hermit Crab', because I love things about the sea.

At home, I like playing Lego with my mum and dad. I like to jump on our trampoline.

When I grow up I would like to be someone who helps animals, just like Dusty the snake catcher!"

SPORTS SHORTS

Soccer Skills

I hope you enjoy this week’s collage of the students practising their soccer skills. This can be accessed by clicking the link below.

This term’s soccer clinics ran for a large part of the term and it was so wonderful to see the children running around and having fun with their friends!

Mark Johnston has been coming to our school for many years now and he always delivers high quality soccer programs. He has some holiday clinics coming up in the school holidays and the information can be found below.

I would like to thank the senior students for helping me prepare for Newcombe Ball this term. The students have really enjoyed keeping active at lunch and it’s been a great success.

Book Week Competition

To celebrate 'Book Week', the Shoalhaven Library is running a competition, which will be handed out to all students this week. There is a ‘colouring-in competition’ for K -2 and a ‘create a creature’ for Years 3 - 6. These will need to be taken to any local library by Friday 9 October (last week of the school holidays). What a great school holiday activity! Also, if you prefer, they can be handed to me before the last day of Term 3, Friday 25 September to take in. Please make sure a parent/carer signature is on the back.

There are some wonderful prizes and students from Tomerong did a great job last year with their entries, so I am looking forward to seeing some fantastic entries this year also!

Library Reminders

A friendly reminder note was sent home today (green paper) to all students who have overdue books. Please return these books to the library before the end of term.

Please encourage your child/children to return their books each week and borrow some new ones. This ensures the books are available for all students to borrow.

A big thank you to the students who borrow and return their books each and every week!
