Term 2 Week 5, Wednesday 25 May 2022

Principal's Report

Who can believe we are in Week 5 already!

Time is flying by and our term is certainly ramping up. Tomorrow we will be running our annual athletics carnival. While the weather is not ideal, we are lucky enough to have access to an all weather track at Beaton Park. The weather is meant to hold out for tomorrow. We will have a modified schedule as the centre of the field is closed. This means that the throwing events will not be held tomorrow. We will still be competing in high jump, long jump, all running races and some novelty events. It will be a great day. Please ensure the students have everything they need for the day.

This week our students have completed their entries for the Operation Art competition. These were voted on by staff and the winning entries from each stage are being sent off for further judging. I congratulate all our students on the wonderful artworks they have produced. We are creating a display of these in the foyer at the car park entrance to the building over the coming week. We also wish our entrants the very best of luck!

To show we are one as a school and to affirm the sense of belonging in our students, it is important for all children to be wearing our school uniform. I understand that this can be challenging with the weather getting colder, however, it is important that students are wearing green jumpers with their school shirt and green track pants during the week with black shorts/pants on Fridays. If you are finding it difficult to afford a uniform, please contact the office for support.

Kindergarten 2023

We invite all families with children turning five prior to 31 July 2023, to enrol for Kindergarten. If you have a child, or know someone who has a child that fits this age bracket who are ready to enrol in school, you can access the online enrolment forms through the enrolment tab on our website or by clicking this link https://mtousley-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/about-our-school/enrolment.html alternatively you are welcome to call or come and see our friendly office staff for your enrolment pack. We will be hosting an information session on Thursday June 16 at 3:30pm for all interested families. Enrolment packs will be available at this session.

We are also happy to conduct school tours and answer any questions you may have at a time that suits you and your family.

Enrolment packs are available from the office. These packs have all the information you need to be ready for your child to start kindergarten in 2023.

District Cross Country Carnival

Last Friday 20th May, we had 40 students represent Mount Ousley at the District Cross Country Carnival. It was a wonderful day and all students demonstrated an outstanding effort in each of their events.

A big congratulations to Amara and Alexander who will be competing at the South Coast Cross Country Championships on Friday the 10th of June. Good luck!

Walk Safely to School Day - Friday 20 May

Thank you to everyone for their participation in Walk Safely to School Day last Friday. It was wonderful seeing the big smiles of everyone walking through our gate!

We would like to thank Leisure Coast Fruit Market and Deli for generously donating fruit for every child at Mount Ousley. We had a very healthy start to our Friday!

Election day BBQ

Thank you to all of the volunteers who gave up their time on Saturday to help out at the election day BBQ. We raised $928.90, which is a fantastic result. These funds will help the setting up of our new community room and the passive play space under the canteen.

Award Recipients

A huge congratulations goes out to all of the students who received an award this week. These students are being wonderful learners and role models to their peers. Keep up the amazing work!

Next week, we will be hosting our Assembly on the Basketball Court from 2:40pm, as Stage 3 have an incursion in the Hall.

Athletics Carnival

Please make sure all students are at school at 8:15am to be ready to be on the bus at 8:30am. Students who attend before school care will be organised to be on the bus on time. If you have not returned your note please email permission to the school email address and make payment through the school website.

Lost property

There is an increasing pile of lost jumpers and hats accumulating across the school. If you have lost items please collect them from the basket in the canteen area or the tub in the k-2 corridor. To make it easier for us to return lost property, please make sure all items are clearly labelled with your child's name.

Letter box drop

We are seeking volunteers to assist with a letter box drop to inform our community of our kindergarten enrolment for 2023. If you are able to assist please contact the school office.

Outstanding Accounts

This week our lovely office staff are continuing to follow up with families who have not yet paid for Life Education Van and Footsteps Dance. If you have not already paid for these incursions please  promptly pay them either through the website or in cash at the office. We need to ensure all accounts are paid prior to the end of the financial year and we appreciate your assistance in this matter.
