Newsletter

Our Term 2 learning adventures have begun!

We hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable break and we look forward to sharing a busy and productive term with you and your children. It has begun with a rush already!

This week we look forward to welcoming more students back to school as we implement our Gradual Return to School Plan.

All classes are continuing their program of learning and teachers are developing lessons to meet the educational needs of our students.

Thank you to the parents who have assisted us in preparing for the delivering of the school curriculum to students in an alternate manner. We will continue using Seesaw and Teams to communicate and provide feedback on student’s learning. All students will receive a hard copy of the lessons including learning goals, success criteria and explicit instructions regarding the tasks to be completed and a new weekly timetable.

Students will complete learning tasks in work books, text books and on worksheets.  Students who attend school will work from the same lessons and timetable to ensure there is only one unit of work, whether the student is learning from home or at school.

Variations to normal routines and structures will continue to occur. The school will not be holding whole school assemblies, excursions, music lessons, scripture, PSSA sporting activities and whole school sporting activities until further notice.

Narrabri West Public School’s attendance model for returning to school one day per week, whilst maintaining social distancing requirements and allowing for daily essential workers. Students are required to attend on their allocated day is as follows:

Monday

Tuesday

Wednesday

Thursday

Surnames A-E

Surnames F-L

Surnames M-R

Surnames S-Z

The Pre School model will be communicated to Pre School parents on Kinderloop.

Drop Off and Pick up

Please drop students at the drop off gate each morning from 9:00am. A teacher will be on duty ready to assist and we ask that you don’t come into the school grounds at this time. At pick up time, please stay in your car until 3:25pm and then move to the pickup area (back oval enter via hall gate) to maintain social distancing.

Student Learning Packs

Just a reminder, if you are sending your child to school please send their learning packs with them.

ANZAC Day

Unfortunately most ANZAC day services and events in Narrabri were cancelled. Despite the cancellations it was wonderful to see many of our students still commemorate this important day from home. Many of our children honored all those who served and died in war.

Mrs Smith played the Last Post, while Cheslie, Brody and Scott assisted her, so Narrabri West was very well represented!

ASTHMA ACTION PLANS

With some cold weather already here, and winter fast approaching, lots of children will experience asthma related illnesses.

If your child has been diagnosed with asthma, your doctor or health care provider should have provided you with an Asthma Action Plan to help you and your child with their asthma.

It is recommended that you provide your childs’ school with a copy of their Asthma Action Plan and their own Ventolin puffer (and spacer if needed) so we too can help your child with their asthma if they happen to have asthma whilst at school.  The school does have Ventolin for emergency use only.

If you have already provided us with an action plan, please ensure that it is current and up to date.

These plans must be signed by your doctor or health care provider.

Our school has been recognised as an Asthma Friendly School by meeting the set criteria to become an Asthma Friendly School.

The criteria are as follows:

•              Asthma records kept for each student with asthma

•              Asthma first aid posters are on display

•              Asthma medications are readily available to students with asthma

•              Spacer devices are available

•              A plan is in place for managing asthma during sporting activities, excursions or camps

•              Asthma education offered to parents/caregivers within the school

•              Asthma education provided for all school staff

•              Asthma education program in the health curriculum

•              Potential asthma triggers minimised with in the school environment

Seesaw a great way for sharing

Seesaw is a simple way for teachers and students to record and share what's happening in the classroom.

Seesaw gives students a place to document their learning, be creative and learn how to use technology.

Each student gets their own journal and will add things to it, like photos, videos, drawings, or notes.

Students upload their learning for review!
