St Pat's News

December 4, 2019

At St Patrick’s Parish Primary School we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school.

From The RE Leader - Peter Sanderson

This Sunday is the second Sunday of Advent. During this second week of Advent, we reflect on our lives, and work on becoming better versions of ourselves in preparation for Jesus’ coming.

Week 2, Peace

Dear Jesus, you entered our world on Christmas as the Prince of Peace.

This Advent, as we strive to become the best version of ourselves, fill us with a deep and abiding peace.

Help us share that peace with everyone we encounter, especially those who need it most.

Amen.

Mass of Thanksgiving for the School Year

Our Mass of Thanksgiving for the School Year will be at 10.00am on Thursday 12th December in St Patrick’s Church. You are all invited to come along and join us in giving thanks to God for everything we have received and achieved throughout 2019.

Mini Vinnies News

The Mini Vinnies group are running two campaigns during Advent to help our school community focus on doing something for people in need in the lead up to Christmas.

  • Food Share Christmas Appeal - Families are invited to make donations of food to our Christmas Hampers in the corridor outside the Art Room windows. See the flyer later in this newsletter for suggestions as to what kinds of food can be donated.

  • SchoolAid 2019 Bushfire Appeal - On Monday 9th December the Mini Vinnies will hold a fundraising day to raise money to support the SchoolAid Bushfire Relief Appeal. Students are invited to come to school dressed to fit in with the theme of Summer Fun. The Mini Vinnies are asking for a gold coin donation for the privilege of dressing up and they will also be running a cake stall on the day.

We urge you to discuss with your families how you might support these campaigns as a way of preparing for the celebration of Christmas.

From The Principal - Sue Paulka

Dear Parents, Parishioners, Carers, Staff & Students,

Sympathy

Our sympathy is extended to Andrea and Danny Lane and family on the passing of Danny’s father, Brian, last week.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Amy, Scott and Liddell (Yr 3) Cooper on the birth of their son and brother, Remy Thomas, last Friday.

School Performance

What a wonderful performance of “Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits” we were treated to last week. It was so exciting to see how confident and proud the children were of their performances.

Sincere thanks to Tommy Greene, Jo Wollermann and Tracey Dalton for the many hours they spent in rehearsals with the children, to Cara Chisholm for painting the excellent backdrops, Leanne Mahney for assistance with backdrops and decorating the foyer, Naomi Harman for costuming and to all the staff for their assistance with practice.

Congratulations to all our children on a superb performance.

No Parking at the School Crossing

In an effort to improve child safety in and around the school crossing, the Moyne Shire has erected a number of "No Standing" signs near the crossing, which means no parking is permitted in the area between the signs. Please be mindful of this when dropping off and picking up your children so that you are not fined.

The office is open from 8.30am - 4.00pm each day.

There is no supervision for students before 8.40am. Teachers use the time prior to the doors opening for setting up for the day, therefore they are not available to supervise students. Students who arrive at school prior to 8.40am need to wait at the side door near the hall until the doors are opened.

The bell for the start of the day rings at 8.55am, any student arriving after this time needs to be signed in using the iPad at the office.

The bell for the end of the day rings at 3.20pm. If for any reason you are going to be later than 3.30pm to collect your child/children, please contact the school office.
