Be Safe - Be Responsible - Be Respectful - Be Your Best

Week 6 - Term 2 - Issue 17

Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

School Reports

Our teachers are currently working with students to assess how their learning is progressing throughout the year. Due to the Learning from Home period the Department of Education has released new guidelines for Semester 1 reports with an extended timeline for getting them out to families. While in normal circumstances reports are sent home to parents at the end of Term 2, an extension has been granted for them to go home next term. This will see our reports go home in Week 3 or 4 of next term, giving teachers the necessary time to assess and teach relevant concepts and ensuring parents are given an accurate indication of how their child is performing.

Canteen

It was so lovely to have our canteen back open for business yesterday. The canteen will continue to operate for lunch only, each Tuesday and Friday, thanks to the hard work of Emma our Canteen Coordinator. The canteen menu can be downloaded below.

Student Attendance

It’s lovely to have our students back full time and I thank our school community for making sure attendance at school is a priority. Our student attendance has remained at 96% or better each day since returning full time, which is a great achievement. Remember, normal attendance protocols are being implemented, so if your child is away, please ensure the school is notified.

OFFICE NEWS

Student Health Care Changes

As all students have now returned to school, we are asking parents to please advise our office staff and their child’s teacher if there are any changes to the health care needs of their children. For parents of children with existing Health Care Plans, we ask you to consider if there have been any changes that need to be updated at school.

For parents of children with Asthma, we urge you to ensure that your child’s Asthma Action Plan is up to date and that medications are in date. Please contact the school on 4443 4376 if you would like to discuss any aspect of your child’s healthcare needs. Your child’s health and safety is our utmost concern and keeping information updated enables us to provide the best possible care.

KINDERGARTEN CORNER

"Hi, My name is Harrison.

I have a big brother and sister. At home, I like playing Lego and wearing my Spiderman costume. At school, I love working, colouring in and reading groups.

When I was learning at home I liked the caterpillar math game. When I grow up I would like to be a Navy man like my dad."

Scholastic Book Club

The latest Scholastic Book Club catalogues have been issued to each child.

In this issue, Mrs Dilley's pick is ‘The Very Super Bear by Nick Bland’ and Mrs Darby's pick this issue is ‘The Bin Chicken by Kate and Jol Temple’.

A portion of all book sales allows us to select resources for our school. Please place your orders online via the link above or return your order to school by Thursday 18 June.

Happy reading!

P&C NEWS

Uniform Pool

The transition to the online ordering system for school uniforms ‘School Locker’ will occur next week. Coincidentally, and not as a result of moving online, some uniform items will increase in price. This is because the former company we ordered uniforms through has been bought by ‘School Locker’ and was to happen anyway. Information about online ordering will be coming very soon.

Second Hand Uniform Pool

If you happened to clean out your child’s wardrobe over the last few months and you are not sure what to do with the school uniforms your child has outgrown, you can donate them to our second-hand clothing pool. All donations are much appreciated and will ensure our stock levels stay high.

P&C AGM and General Meeting

It is with great excitement to announce that we are able to hold our P&C meetings once again, however, only remotely at this stage. Our next P&C meeting will be held on Tuesday 23 June (Week 9) and will be accessed via Zoom. This will also be our AGM. If you wish to be a financial member of the P&C and vote for motions at these meetings, you will need to put $1 into an envelope labelled with your name and the reference ‘P&C Membership’ and hand it in to the office or deposit $1 into the P&C account with ‘P&C Membership’ as the reference. The account details are BSB: 062 585. Account Number: 000910411. If you do not have Zoom already downloaded onto your phone or desktop, you will need to do this beforehand. The information to join the meeting is below.
