COVID Restrictions & R4S
A reminder that from next week, the DoE has allowed schools to admit new Kindergarten parents for 2021 for a limited period when dropping off and picking up their children as part of the Ready for School program. This pick up and drop off point will be at the Tiger Turf, each Wednesday at 1.45pm and 2.45pm for 4 weeks, commencing in Week 4 of this term.
Them From Me Survey
Congratulations to everyone – a record 235 parent responses to our TTFM survey this year! Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to complete the survey and provide us with feedback. As mentioned, we ran a competition for the class who managed to return the highest number of responses. Congratulations to KK, 1/2B, 3/4A & 5/6P who were the winning classes. An ice block reward is headed your way!
Book Week Dress Up
Well done to all the students and to parents for getting into the spirit of book week and helping with outfits. Well done also to the staff who also came up with some great costumes. Special thanks to Mrs Nelson for organising such a fun day at our school.
Restricted Parking & Safety
A reminder to please adhere to parking restrictions, particularly in relation to disabled parking. We have a number of community members who require access to these spots on a daily basis. Also, it has been noted that students are regularly running across the road to meet parents on the other side. Please encourage your children to use the crossings that are provided so that we avoid the possibility of accidents.
Ready for School
The R4S program will run for 4 weeks and will commence in Week 4 of this term. Further details and reminders about the organisation and arrangements have been forwarded to those families involved. If you know anyone living in our school zone who has kindergarten aged children for 2021, please don’t hesitate to refer them to our school office for further details of enrolment.
Ethics Teachers
The Primary Ethics program is a very popular program that has been running at WWS in recent years. The program teaches students about sound decisions making and contributing positively in the community. Currently, we have a large group of students on waiting lists to attend Ethics, as the course relies on volunteer teachers from the community to run the lessons. If you have an interest in being involved in the delivery of this highly valuable program at WWS, please contact the office so that we can provide you with the relevant details.
Gala Days
In recent weeks some of our senior students have been able to participate in Sports Gala Days for Netball and Soccer. As expected, our students behaved perfectly and set the standard for competitive, but fair and friendly play. Thanks to all the teachers who organised the events and coached teams.
Have a great week everyone,
Matt Barr
