School Disco
This coming Thursday 30 March, the P&C host our first student disco for the year. Permission notes and money were due on Friday, however for this event, if you had not been able to pay by the deadline, the P&C are able to accept payment and seek signed permission on the night of the event.
The junior disco (K-2) will run between 4:45 – 6:00pm and the 3-6 disco will run between 6:30 - 8:00pm. The students are able to wear whatever comfortable clothes for dancing that they like, but just ensure appropriate choices and that they wear sensible closed in shoes. Bringing a labelled water bottle is also strongly encouraged so that they can takes sips during the event as they need to.
We ask all parents and carers not to arrive more than 10 minutes before the starting time for each disco and to please leave the school grounds after your child has been dropped off. Because responsibility for supervision lies with the school, younger or older siblings are unable to attend the disco, this event is just for students from our school.
Finally, if you are making arrangements for your child to be picked up by another family member or friend, could you please send a note explaining who you have authorised to collect your child. Thanks again to our P&C for organising and coordinating the event – it should be a fun night for the students.
The Big Veggie Crunch
This coming week is also the Healthy Kids Association’s ‘Vegetable Week’. Did you know that in NSW, only 5% of children eat enough vegetables? Vegetable Week is being supported by our school canteen LPS Eats with some additional vegetable-based options joining the menu for this coming week. The aim of the week is to try and promote positive attitudes towards eating vegetables and improve children’s knowledge about why vegetables are so good for us.
As part of Vegetable Week’, we will also be participating in the ‘Big Veggie Crunch’ at 10:00am on Thursday 30 March. On Thursday, all students are encouraged to pack some cut up vegetables, in place of their regular fruit break, to crunch on at 10:00am on Thursday. Joining with other schools all over NSW, we hope to help break the record for the highest number of children eating vegetables simultaneously. Some simple examples of vegetables to crunch on include: carrot or celery sticks, pieces of capsicum, cherry tomatoes, snow peas or beans. There is further information, great resources and vegetable-based recipes on the Healthy Kids website if you would like to learn more. Why not consider using this week to have a few more vegetables on the plate at home too!
Have a great week.
