We have had a couple of recent COVID alerts in the south-west so I urge parents to keep an eye on this developing situation and remember the protocols the school has in place. I repeat them below for your information.
Working Bee
Many thanks to Janette Lowe, Marcelle and Murray Hennig and Tamara, Aaron and Jackson Wright for their efforts at Saturday’s working bee. We managed to deal with a couple of high priority jobs.
We require a new bracket on the handrail at the front entrance to the school. If anyone has the tools (possibly an angle grinder) and know-how to do this for us, just let Janine know and arrange a time. Your efforts will go towards your volunteer points.
School Uniform
We are well and truly into the period where our winter uniform is required. Families are reminded that outdoor coats, whether school coats, puffer jackets or other, are not to be worn in class. These are for outdoor wear so we encourage students to ensure they have their school jumpers with them as well in order to be warm and comfortable in the classrooms.
Triple P - Positive Parenting Program
Triple P online is now available for free to all Victorian families. The Victorian Government has funded the online Triple P – Positive Parenting Program for all Victorian families, providing access to expert parenting advice during these challenging COVID-19 times.
Sporting Schools Program
Our Sporting Schools after school program will recommence in Week 3, Monday 27th July. The program will run on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:20pm to 4:30pm and will be supervised by Tom Sell, Naomi Harman and Harry Evans. Further information appears below in this newsletter.
Australian Dental Health Van
The Australian Dental Health Van will visit St Patrick’s for the week beginning Monday 24th August. Consent forms were sent home last Wednesday and will need to be returned by Wednesday 29th July. Spare forms are available from the office. Participation in this program is by parents’ choice. It is not compulsory.
COVID-19 Restrictions
The following processes and protocols remain in place this term.
Access to the school limited to essential staff and services
Enhanced cleaning of high contact surfaces throughout the school day and at the end of the day
Restricted movement of students between classes
School staff observing physical distancing
Practising good hand hygiene with students washing their hands before and after each learning block and before and after eating
Cancellation of all off-site activities such as camps, excursions and sporting activities
Staggered dismissal to avoid large gatherings of adults at the front of the school.
Sick Students
Parents and carers are reminded that if children are ill, they are to be kept at home. If they are displaying cold and flu-like symptoms, they are not to return to school until all symptoms have abated.
Kind regards,
Peter Sanderson
Principal
