Term 4 Week 4 - 2 November 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

Term 4

Swim School

We have 345 students participating in Swim School starting next week. Some of our older students will not participate next week but will have double swim school sessions in Week 6 due to the Year 5 excursion to Canberra. Details of what times your child will be involved in their swim school sessions and what they need to bring to school each day will be provided in a separate information sheet this week.

Warmer Weather and Uniform

The weather has started to warm up and with this we see many students wearing way too many layers of clothing. All students should be wearing summer school uniform. A jacket is all students require over their school t-shirt or dress. We do not need to see students continuing to wear long sleeved tops and skivvies. Some of our students have been overheating due to the excess layers of clothing and as a result we have seen nose bleeds increasing. If families are experiencing financial difficulty in purchasing school uniform please ask to speak with Mrs Creagh, a Deputy Principal or CLOs and we will be able to provide support.

Kindergarten Orientation and 2023 Enrolments

We have completed two Kindergarten Orientation sessions now and have two more to go. It is very important that children starting Kindergarten in 2023 have an opportunity to be part of the remaining sessions and see the kindergarten classrooms, meet the Kinder teachers and also see the faces of the other children attending who they might end up being class mates with.

If you have not enrolled your child in Kindergarten please contact the school office ASAP on 9724 1555 or visit the school to complete the enrolment form.

Canley Vale Public School Concert

Dear Parents and Carers

Our school concert will be held over two nights this year, to allow everyone to come along.  Wednesday 23 November and Thursday 24 November. The theme this year is ‘Pop Culture’. We are very fortunate to be performing at CabraVale Diggers Club. The venue is smaller than what we are used to with Club Marconi, but we have tables and numbered seats which will make it a lot more enjoyable for everyone

On Wednesday 23 November, Years 1, 3 and 5 plus Primary Choir, Dance Troupe; Chinese dance, Khmer dance; Vietnamese dance and additional solo and duet items-including Drumming, Guitar, Piano recitals and Samoan cultural dancers will perform for us. Preschool will be presenting a video of their performances as well.

On Thursday 24 November-Kindergarten, Years 2, 4 and 6 plus Primary Choir, Dance Troupe; Chinese dance, Khmer dance; Vietnamese dance and additional solo and duet items-including Drumming, Guitar, Piano recitals and Samoan cultural dancers will perform for us. Preschool will be presenting a video of their performances as well.

All students are required to be in the concert. They can only watch as an audience member if it is not their night to perform. The children will get to watch the dress rehearsals and a video of all items following the concert.

This means that some of you may need to go to both concerts. Unfortunately, there are not enough seats for everyone on one night. However, we can offer the following:

We are providing 2 tickets for each family as to allow all families to see their children. An envelope will come home soon offering these following options:

Wednesday only  -2 Tickets only per family      -You may have 2 adult or one adult and one student

Children under 3 may sit on parent’s laps.

We look forward to coming together again as a school and performing for you, its been a long time and we have much to celebrate.

We also hope you will support CabraVale Diggers club by visiting the club, maybe even enjoying a meal before the concert while your children get ready to perform.
