Welcome back to term 2 everybody. It is shaping up to be another busy term with Bookfair in weeks 2 and 3, NAPLAN in weeks 3 and 4 and formal reports going home at the end of the term. There will also be inter-school winter sports matches for our Year 5 and 6 students and the ‘Speak Up’ public speaking program across the term. We will also be holding our STEAM EXPO with a focus on Aboriginal history and culture. By the time you read this, our year 3-4 students will already have participated in a soccer clinic and our year 1-6 students will have participated in an Aboriginal dance incursion.
Please see below a list of upcoming events and reminders
Our school has continued to grow over the first part of the year. Last term we started the year with 204 students and as of next week we will have 2017 students learning in our classrooms.
With this growth in numbers, which is expected to continue at a steady rate over the next 3 years, we will also start to see some developments happening at our school to cater for our expanding community. You may have noticed that the first of these developments began over the school holidays with the arrival of a sea container, located behind Room 9. Over the course of the next two terms we can expect to see the following developments take place:
- The removal of the small transportable that is currently used for storage in the kindy area. (This is scheduled to occur during Week 3)
- The installation of an Early Childhood demountable in the kindy area (ground works likely to start in the second part of this term for installation hopefully by the start of term 3).
- Disability compliance works at the front of the school to improve disability access to the reception and into the school.
I will continue to keep you updated around capital works and plans for our growing school as they develop, proposals are drawn up and begin to receive approval. However, in the meantime if you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss them.
