Principal's Message

Dear Families,

I’m sure most kids have come home with tales about the Ninja Warrior Playground in the last week.  The new playground is open for Grade 3 to 6 students at playtime and students are doing a great job at using it respectfully and sharing it well.  All classes have an opportunity to have a go on the Ninja Warrior course during PE lessons.  If your children (or yourselves) are keen to use the playground out of hours, please ensure they are supervised.

Please take time to complete the surveys below.  The information you give us will be extremely valuable.

MPS Reports Survey

The link below is a survey asking for your opinion on MPS reports.  We are reviewing the structure of our reports and opportunities for families to discuss them.  As part of this process, we are gathering information and opinions from students, teachers and families before we make any changes.  It will take only 5min and your input will help inform our decisions.  https://forms.gle/vK5f3EjuQh6xzmk77

Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey

The Parent/Guardian/Caregiver survey is open for families to complete.  While previously a random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents/caregivers/guardians have been selected to participate, this year, all families are invited to participate in the survey. Families will be emailed a link with a school PIN to complete the survey.

Please take the time to complete the survey as your opinions are important to us and will contribute to the future management and organisation of our school.

Mansfield Aquatic Study

Have you completed the Online Survey for the Mansfield Aquatic Study? Don’t miss out on the opportunity to share your ideas and experiences about improving aquatic leisure activities in Mansfield. You can find the survey on Engage Mansfield

Book Week

I’m looking forward to seeing some great costumes on Wednesday.  Classes will be parading their costumes, doing some activities related to book week and walking down to the Main Street to read a book in one of the businesses in town.

The Mansfield Library is also running a Bookmark Competition which closes on September 3rd.  Please see information attached.

Book Fair

As part of book week, we will be having a book fair next Wednesday and Thursday.  The middle room in the 56 building will be open from 8:30 – 9:00am and 3:30 – 4:00pm.  Families will be able to look through and purchase books using Eftpos and Cash.  This is a fundraiser for the school and proceeds will go to books for classroom libraries and the school library.

Extra Grade 5 and 6 Camp Opportunities

I had some of the office staff help me to draw names out for some extra camp opportunities this year.  Many of our Grade 5 and 6 students will be going to the 15 Mile Creek Leadership Camp, Somers School Camp, Young Men Old Mountains or Women of the Wild.  These are extra opportunities above our School to Summit program.  I will send notes home with those kids next week.

Family Holidays

I think it is wonderful that people can get out after a couple of really tough years.  I would ask families to let us know if you are planning a family holiday.  We can put together a plan to support kids with some learning tasks that suit the student and the holiday.  An agreed plan also allows us to mark the time away as an ‘approved absence – family holiday’.  If you are planning time away, please contact your classroom teacher and give us a bit of notice.

Like always, please get in touch with us with any questions or concerns.  Call or email your classroom teacher, call the front office or email me tom.macmunn@education.vic.gov.au.

Have a great weekend.

Take Care,

Tom
