As we come to the end of the year and there are assessments, assignments and just general grumpiness that follows from our students, I would like to thank you. To our parents, grandparents and carers, thank you for what you do for your kids. Thank you for the unconditional love you show them.
I am sure you don’t get it often. The late-night assignment help, the unceasing washing, the limitless kilometres in mum’s taxi, “what’s for dinner on repeat” the list is endless, and the thanks a long way off in the distance.
What I find amazing though is it does not stop us. We serve our kids simply because we love them, and there is nothing they can do that stops this love (though we maybe given plenty of opportunity to test this!)
I am often left humbled after enrolment interviews or meetings with parents where I see the passion you have for your kids. I am especially humbled when I chat with the grandparents and carers who are stepping in to help out; when I see the community raise the kids.
It reminds me of God’s love for us. This fortnight in our daily devotions, one of our staff members shared the revelation that our understanding of God’s ways is like taking a 250ml cup full of water from the beach and saying we understand the ocean as a result! The prophet Isaiah records the following in Isaiah 55:8-9:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
I believe we are made in God’s image and our unconditional love for our kids is a very small, but very significant reflection of God’s love for us. Whether we choose to believe or not, follow or not, whether we get it right or wrong, God’s love for us is never ending, unceasing and, to be honest, I don’t know how God does it.
Day after day, His grace abounds toward us and His love is there for us to experience should we ask for it and be willing to receive it. I won’t get too preachy, but this gracious, passionate love is one of the things that continually brings me to my knees, not unlike the love a parent has for their child.
One thing that I am learning separates Richmond from other schools is our desire to honestly and openly partner with our parents in the education and nurture of your children to become who they were made to be in God’s image. I watch our teachers daily sacrifice time and effort so that our students can have every opportunity to succeed and know they are valuable.
So please, if you have questions or concerns come in and chat with us, we love them as you do and want the best for them.
Good tidings!
Jonno
Some Changes are coming…
Week 6 Changes
In order to maximise our learning times, specialist staff for Primary and continue to offer the best learning environment we can we are making a few changes to the structure of the day. The most significant change will be that there will be no assembly in Primary or Homeroom in Secondary first thing in the morning. Homeroom and assembly will now be conducted after recess as a transition back to class. This means class will now start at 8.50am sharp.
If you are late, after 8.50am, please sign in at the School Office.
There will be some subsequent timing changes for the morning session:
Period 1: 8.50 – 9.40
Period 2:` 9.40 – 10.30
Recess: 10.30 – 10.50
Assembly/
Homeroom: 10.50 – 11.00
Primary Teaching Staff
I hope to announce who will be taking the Primary Classes for next year in Week 7 Tidings. We still have some staff movements that we are waiting to finalise. We will then have our annual step up day where students will spend some time with their new teachers in Week 9.

Dear RCC Community,
This year as a school, we're raising awareness this Movember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives.
We are passionate about all people living their fullest and healthiest lives and so we're inviting all men in the Richmond Christian College Community to grow a Mo for the month of November. We are also inviting them to share their experiences, wisdom and teachable mo-ments in their lives to encourage one another.
If you'd like to join us, head to https://au.movember.com/register
and create your own Movember account. Then join the team "RichMo-Bros" to unite together as a community for this cause. This team page is where we would love for you share any articles, photos, videos or stories of what helps you live life to the full once a week through the month of November. Let's get around each other and encourage each other to live fuller, healthier lives.
