Principal's Message

Dear Families,

It’s the middle of Winter and feels like Spring already!  We are hoping for some snow to replace what has been lost over the last few days.  Our first few days at the snow with our 4s, 5s and 6s were great.  Hopefully we can get some more ski days in over the next few weeks.

Ninja Warrior Playground

Our Ninja Warrior course has been a project of Parents and Friends for the past couple of years.  Thank you to everyone who has helped arrange events, shared links, donated and supported the project.

We are on schedule for the playground to be installed next Monday and Tuesday, soft fall mulch delivered and spread on Wednesday and being able to use it on Thursday!

Decodable Readers and School to Summit

The Mansfield Community Bank has sponsored Mansfield Primary School $7500 as part of their community grants program.  Decodable readers contain only sounds and words that students can sound out based on their level of knowledge.  These are important tools for teaching and practicing reading.  We have been planning to purchase a School to Summit trailer to support our outdoor programs, particularly for our Grade 3 to Grade 6 camps.  A grant from the Community Bank makes this possible.

Jen Driessen and I went to the Community Bank’s 15th Birthday Celebration last night and accepted the latest donation.  They have done an amazing job over the last 15 years, raising almost $1M for the local community.  We thank them for their work.

Grace Mitchell

Grace, in 2C, is raising money for the Good Friday Appeal.  She is cutting her gorgeous hair to help make wigs for children who need them.  What a star!

Family Holidays

I think it is wonderful that people can get out after a couple of really tough years.  I would ask families to let us know if you are planning a family holiday.  We can put together a plan to support kids with some learning tasks that suit the student and the holiday.  An agreed plan also allows us to mark the time away as an ‘approved absence – family holiday’.  If you are planning time away, please contact your classroom teacher and give us a bit of notice.

Like always, please get in touch with us with any questions or concerns.  Call or email your classroom teacher, call the front office or email me tom.macmunn@education.vic.gov.au.

Have a great weekend.

Take Care,

Tom

Book Drive for Classroom Libraries

 We want your books! 😊

During the first 4 weeks of Term 3 we are running a book drive to help us build interesting, varied, rich classroom libraries that our students can access during all reading sessions at school.

If you are looking to clean out any fiction or non-fiction books suitable for students of any primary age, we would love for you to donate them for use in our classrooms.

Book donations (only books in good condition please!) can be left at the front office.

If you have any questions, please contact Dean Bush on Dean.Bush@education.vic.gov.au

Thank you – in advance! 😊
