Principal's Message

Dear Families,

It is so good that we were able to have a Book Week Parade last week.  Events like this are so important and exciting for the students.  In the next couple of weeks, we are looking forward to our final 5/6 ski day, some lunchtime activities run by MSC Y12 students, Athletics carnivals, colours day and the P&F Bogan Bingo on Saturday September 10th.

MPS 150th Celebration

Classes across the school are working on units related to our 150th celebration next term.  There has been some great learning and discovery about the history of our school.  I have learnt that 3 schools were closed and moved onto our site in the 1940’s to accommodate an increase in students; Barwite (1946), Howes Creek (1946) and Maindample (1948).  Please make sure you have Saturday October 8th in your diary for our ceremony and school fair.

Working Bee

We have a working bee on Saturday September 10th 10:00am to 12:00pm.  We have some tidying up to do for our big celebration on the 8th of October.  Please come and join us for a couple of hours to do some inside and outside jobs.  Bring some cleaning gear (gloves, buckets, cloths etc) and some gardening gear (rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, etc) if you have it.

Surveys

A final reminder to please take time to complete the surveys below.

Mansfield Primary Grade 4 Cross Country Skiing:

The Grade 4s have just completed 4 Cross Country Ski days at Mansfield Primary, as part of their School to Summit Outdoor Ed Program. It has been the first time we have been able to run all four ski lessons since Covid, so all children (and adults) were very excited. On each of these days, the kids travelled up to Mt Stirling at 9am, got their boots, skis and poles all sorted and then headed off among the trails for the day. They learnt great skills with their own instructors, provided through Stirling Experience. Each day was different, challenging and FUN! A massive thank you to Craig and the Stirling Experience team for providing our students with 4 great ski days full of fun, skills and adventure. Also a thank you to all of our Parent helpers that came an supported our students for the day. These days cannot run without your support, so thank you.

Well done to all of our Grade 4 students for being resilient, polite and amazing skiers 😊.

Skiing at Mt Buller

The Grade 5 & 6s have been going up to Mount Buller to ski and snowboard. We get to school at the normal time. We get called to go to a group, then we get on the bus at 9:30. We leave school and drive to the mountain. It takes about an hour, when we get on top of the mountain, we get off the bus and meet up with our group leader. We walk to Cow Camp and have a snack and a drink of water. We go to the ski hire and get the stuff we need. We meet our instructors and walk to the ski-lift. After we get up, we go to a flat spot and learn things. Then we have a lesson. We go skiing for an hour, then go back to Cow Camp for lunch. We eat for 30 minutes and then go back to our instructor and ski for another hour. One more hour after that we pack up and get back on the bus to get back to school. We get back at school at 5:00. It is always a spectacular day. Skiing and snowboarding is a good experience because we are learning something new, we get to be outside and it’s fun.

Mansfield Primary’s Ninja Warrior Course

With the arrival of a new and exciting Ninja Warrior course at Mansfield Primary, it seemed only appropriate for Miss Driessen to challenge the students to race the course. This course tested students speed, balance, strength and control as it wasn’t just about completing the course, but also on how fast they could do it.

Each grade got a chance to practice on the course and then individually got timed. These times were recorded and winners of each year level received a trophy and certificate. But, students were not just up against their year level. They were also up against the entire school. Therefore there was a chance to be named the ULTIMATE Mansfield Primary Ninja Warrior athlete in the whole school. Times were fast and students only got the one chance to run the course.

Congratulations to the following on being the fastest Ninja Warrior in their year level:

Year 2: Sienna Vivash

Year 3: Cooper Hoebergen

Year 4: Levi McCoombe

Year 5: Lucas Bellman

Year 6: Kezi Wolfe

And a massive congratulations to our ULTIMATE NINJA WARRIOR at the school………………….Levi McCoombe.
