Dear Parents & Community Members,

Welcome to Term 3 and (fingers crossed) an educationally rewarding, uninterrupted period of time. During the term we will be celebrating our 40th, raising the time capsule and unveiling the new mosaics at the Art Show. Stay tuned for updates.

The National School Opinion Survey is due to be undertaken again this year to seek the views of the school community. This survey relates directly to Glengarry Primary School with data collected every second year, collated and review by the School Board. The survey does not go “live” until Monday and a reminder will be sent via Skoolbag at least twice prior to closing on August 14.

The link to access as of Monday will be: https://www.schoolsurvey.edu.au/s/glengarryps2020

COVID-19 Update

Please note the following points relating to the current handling of the pandemic at our school given Phase 4 restrictions still remain in place:

  • Students not attending school without a medical reason will be marked as absent and not provided with a learning program.
  • Students who are unwell should stay home and will be recorded as an “authorised absence” once parents/carers notify the school, as per normal process.
  • Parents, carers and visitors may access the school site although physical distancing of one adult per 2 square metres should apply.
  • Heightened hygiene practices will still apply with the supply of sanitiser / soap and children encouraged / instructed to use.
  • Increased cleaning will continue in Term 3 with cleaning staff on site during the school day to regularly clean and disinfect high-contact surfaces that are frequently used by students and/or staff.
  • Assemblies and other school community events can occur. Adult visitors and staff should maintain physical distancing of one person per two square metres.

Dogs on School Grounds

Please be advised that dogs (on a lead or not) are not permitted on school grounds. This also includes car parks while dropping off or collecting students. The cooperation of our community is certainly appreciated with this issue.

Protective Behaviours

All students in Western Australia learn 'Protective Behaviours' as a part of the Health curriculum. These are a set of skills that every child can use to stay safe at home, school, in the community and online, and will be a focus at Glengarry this term.

If you would like to learn more about Protective Behaviours, WA Child Safety Services is offering live parent workshops in webinar form for just $10 per person. These will be hosted by Protective Behaviours expert, Justine O'Malley, and are highly recommended for all parents.

Chaplain's Chat

Chaplain’s Chat

Making mistakes is human. We all make them at some point and in fact it’s one of the best ways we learn.

Over the holidays my kids broke a snow globe I had tucked away for special occasions. Yes I was upset, yes there were consequences, but more than anything I’m glad my kids came and told me, they owned up to it rather than hiding.

Owning up to mistakes is a big thing- it’s hard, but until we address it things won’t get fixed or worse, others can get hurt.

One of our BUZ messages is ‘You don’t lose power when you ask for help- you actually gain it’

I know I’ll aim to remember this next time I mess up too.

Kind Regards,

Talitha

Health and Hygiene

Is your child feeling unwell?

Please do not send your child to school if they are at all unwell.

Any child who demonstrates or complains of being unwell will be removed from the class, isolated and parents/carers contacted.

Our school is well stocked with hand sanitiser. This has been provided to all work areas (including classrooms) and children are expected to “sanitise out / sanitise in” at all times. Cleaning of hands following toilet use will also be instructed.
