Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week at school the teachers have been planning for the rest of the term. We had the School Improvement Team working with the staff teams from across the school to develop the learning tasks that will be coming home through the next few weeks. The collaborative planning sessions allowed for professional discussion and collegiality across the school.

It was really super to hear about all of the learning that is happening!! Even in our specialist classrooms.  I understand that for many of you literacy and numeracy are the focus of your home learning. I wanted to share some examples of work from our specialist classrooms.

Performing Arts with Mrs Eriksen

This term the whole school has been learning about Dance and Movement. Every week I get to see so many awesome photos and videos of students completing their dance activities and it never fails to bring a smile to my face!  Keep up the amazing dancing, everyone!

A few weeks ago the F-3 students completed an activity called dance patterns. The students were learning to organise movements to create dances. They danced along to “Banana, Banana, Meatball” and then had a go at creating three of their own dance moves!  Here’s Mavi’s amazing dance:

In the upper school we completed a Ninja Reflex Challenge, where students had to copy some Ninja Dance moves and then choreograph four of their own moves. This activity helped the students to develop technical movement skills such as body control, accuracy, and coordination. Here are Oscar’s excellent Ninja moves:

It seems this is Mavi’s week - it was super to see him feature as NAB Auskicker on 7 Sport last week.

The 2/3s designed and created some fantastic sock puppets in STEAM

2/3B Inquiry Dioramas

The 2/3s have been exploring habitats and endangered animals within those habitats. To gather their researching and finding out, they created dioramas and chose 1 habitat to explore. They worked hard to gather materials around their home and created brilliant dioramas!

2/3T Inquiry Dioramas
