Term 4 Week 5: Monday 9th November 2020

Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

So many great things are continuing to happen at MIPS!

This week, our students are very excited about our book fair. The library is all decked out for the fair and classes are steadily making their way through. Our thanks to Mrs Belcastro and all who have made this possible.

Socktober was a great success thanks to Mrs Moore and all those who assisted her. https://www.facebook.com/maryimmacqhill

Kinder Orientation was tremendous as well despite this being a second orientation that got rained on this year….

Please keep reading through this newsletter to hear about more.

We received notification this week from CEDP of some extra funding for 2021. They will be supporting the refurbishment of our KInder/Year 2 bathrooms. I have looked forward for a long while for this to finally be achieved. We will be able to resurface the grassed area near the main school entrance and flagpole which will be a blessing at afternoon dismissal. We also have received quite a bit of funding to support the upgrading our learning spaces. This will enable us to further enhance our use of the spaces for student learning. This will consist of some minor works and re-furnishing. I want to express the thanks of our MIPS community to our colleagues at CEDP for their support as we continue to strive for the best outcomes for our students. 2021 will see many further improvements at MIPS!

With appreciation for your ongoing support,

Stephen Dowd

PM eCollection

Our school has invested significantly in the purchase of new PM readers to support reading. It has been great to see these used in infants classrooms daily, during reading groups. As you are aware, due to Covid restrictions, at this stage we are unable to send physical reading books home with children. It is expected that the PM eCollection is used to access the reader that has been introduced by class teachers, for daily practise at home. These are changed weekly, after your child’s reading session at school. Please let your child’s teacher know if there are any technical issues with logging in to the PM eCollection.

Thank you for your support!

Book Fair News...

Today year 1 and year 4  students had the chance in their class groups to fill out their book fair wish list. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week will allow all other years to visit. Thursday afternoon and Friday will be for students who were away or unable to visit the day allocated.

The wish list is used by parents to order online. Please be sure to write your 8 digit receipt number on the back of your student wish list and fill out the details in either blue or black pen

Once ordered online the children return their wish list to the teacher for orders to be processed and books sent home.

The school is able to put in an extra order if we run out of the item on the shelf that is ordered. We will fill the order as soon as possible.

The rewards the school received from the 2019 Book Fair allowed us to order our Literacy online Programme for the students. We would like our parents to know how your help is valued in helping us purchase these programmes and resources.

We will do our best to put photos of the shelves and the products in the newsletter and skoolbag. Photos of the shelves are also available on the website under Elibrary. It’s different for all of us so once again thank you for being involved.

Message from Missionaries of God's Love Sisters

We have been invited to live in the convent at Mt Carmel, Varroville (near Campbelltown). This is an exciting opportunity for us to branch out in new ministries within the retreat centre and surroundings. However, we are very sad leaving the school and parish of Mary Immaculate.

We want to thank you ALL for the love, support and generosity you have given us over the last 10 years. Kids, we will miss your waves and beautiful smiling faces. You all will be forever in our hearts and in our prayers.

May God bless you and your families. Be sure to come and visit us!

Blessings,

MGL Sisters

Mary Immaculate Catholic Church Quakers Hill ~ Schofields

    UPDATE ON MASS ATTENDANCE

On the 21st October 2020 NSW Health revised the COVID-19 guidelines for places of worship,

effective on Friday 23 October 2020. The maximum number of people who can attend religious gatherings will be lifted from 100 to 300. This will still be subject to the 4 square metre rule.

Please note based on how the church pews are set up in our church and to adhere to the 4 square metre rule, we are limited

to 140 people in the Church for any liturgical celebration or at any one time. For our Sunday Masses we are permitted to

accommodate 50 people in the Parish Schools Multipurpose area.

DIRECTIVES: All people who are coming into the church are highly recommended to wear a mask as this is for your personal protection

but also for protection of everybody else. We would describe it as an act of  fundamental charity. Please wear the masks to, during

and after Mass. If you forget to bring a Mask these are available at the foyer of the church for  a donation of $1.00 each.

The four-square metre rule and 1.5m physical distancing requirements will continue to apply. As COVID-19 cases are escalating,

we need to be very mindful of how we can eliminate risk. Due to the restrictions we encourage no  gathering outside the church before, during or after our services.

Breach of any of these orders referenced under the Public Health Act is a criminal offence and can attract penalties.

As has occurred in some parishes, we expect police may conduct random inspections of places of worship for COVID-19 safety compliance.

PLEASE HELP US KEEP OUR PARISHIONERS  AND VISITORS TO THE CHURCH SAFE.

Please follow instructions upon entry to the Church.

    1. If you are unwell, stay home as the dispensation from Sunday Mass is still current.

    2. Use hand sanitizer available in the foyer of the church.

     3. When entering Church, sign in.

    4. Sit in designated spots. Green Signs “Please Sit Here”.

    5. Keep your distance when lining up for Holy Communion.

    6. Before leaving the church please sanitize the place and area you were seated with the anti-bacterial wipes provided in the church.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED PRAYERS AND SUPPORT!

    PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

My Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to possess You within my soul. Since I am unable at this moment to receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as being already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
