Message from Mrs Ellis

Over the past fortnight our students have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities both in and outside of the school grounds. At all times, our students always strive to be the best version of themselves, and we are so proud of everyone.

Film by the Eucalypts

On Tuesday 15th November, Blaxland Public School had two films shown at the Film by the Eucalypts Festival at the Spring wood Hub. Mrs Hall has been teaching film making skills with 5/6PS this year culminating in each student producing a film with a small group of students. This year, we had two films selected to be shown at the festival. Further Education directed, produced and starring Gabby, Leo, Rhys and Shiv and Locked in the Library directed, produced and starring Amelia, Suzy, Yazmyne and Preston. Congratulations, we are proud of you! There will be a whole school showing of the films on Friday 25th November in the school hall starting at 2:20pm. Thank you Mrs Hall.

Year 6 Fun Day

Yesterday, Year 6 held their annual fun day to raise funds for their Year 6 Farewell. It was a fabulous day and we certainly enjoyed ourselves. A lot of time and hard work goes into organising a day like this and I would like to extend our appreciation and thanks to everyone involved. Mrs Shaw, Mrs Palmer and the Year 6 students worked extremely hard, and everyone had a fantastic day.

2023 Swimming Carnival

This week, the 2023 Swimming Carnival note has been sent home for permission notes and payment to be finalised by Tuesday 13th December. Unfortunately, the date for the carnival next year is the second day back at school on Wednesday 1st February at Glenbrook Pool so we need to have most of the organisation finalised prior to the end of this year. Please see Mr DeMattia if you can assist on the day.

2023 School Leaders Speeches

Captains and Vice Captains

This year, we will be holding the 2023 school leaders’ speeches on Wednesday 30th November at 11:30am in the school hall. There are two school captain and two school vice-captain positions on offer. Students interested in being selected for one of these roles will present a two-minute speech to the whole school and a poster to be displayed in the library windows from Friday 25th November. Votes will be collected from staff and students in K-5. This year, we will be naming and presenting the badges to the 2023 School leaders at the Presentation Day on Tuesday 13th December.

Sport House Captains

This year, we will also be holding the House Captain and Vice Captain elections on Friday 2nd December after lunch in preparation 2023. All Year 5 students interested in applying for a House Captain or Vice Captain role will be voted during the House meetings for all K-5 students. House Captains Badges will be presented at Presentation Day on Tuesday 13th December.

No Friday Chat and Play in week 6 … but Trev will be back in week 7 !!!

Trev from Brewed Awakening can’t make it this week as he is having a well-deserved holiday.  He will be back next Friday 25/11 from 2:45 – 3:30. and for the rest of the year for our Friday afternoon pick up. Thanks, Trev for keeping up going !!

In the Garden

We have been preparing the beds for summer planting, this included digging in fresh soil, compost, and blood & bone. Did you know we have a composting system at the school? We use an Aerobin400 to collect all our kids scraps from 'crunch n sip'. Next Monday at Garden Club (2:30-3:00pm), we will be harvesting some herbs which will be on sale for a gold coin donation. All funds raised will go straight back into supporting our veggie garden. Bunches of rosemary, parsley, chives, sage, mint, thyme and oregano will be available. Thank you for your support. Enjoy the photos and Happy Gardening. Theresa (parent volunteer)
