St Pat's News

September 18, 2019

At St Patrick’s Parish Primary School we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school.

From The RE Leader - Peter Sanderson

Let us give thanks for all that has been wonderful at St Patrick’s School this term.

Thank you God for our learning,

friendships, challenges and the opportunities

we have shared together.

Thank you now, for the coming holiday break which will give us all time to rest, spend time with family and recharge our bodies and minds for the rest of the school year together.

Bless our holidays and keep us safe so that we may return, happy and healthy in Term 4.

Amen.

From The Principal - Sue Paulka

Dear Parents, Parishioners, Carers, Staff & Students,

It’s been a very busy term and next term is shaping up the same way with our Spring Fair in the first week, swimming lessons, cricket competitions and our school production. Thank you to everyone for all your support over the course of this term. I hope you enjoy a restful and safe holiday period.

Our sympathy is extended to Jo, Brett, Meg and Jack (Yr 5) Matthews on the death of Jo’s father last weekend.

Spring Fair

There are lots of preparations taking place for our Spring Fair, which will be held the first weekend after the school holidays. Thank you to the many people who are working behind the scenes to make sure everything will be in place and it will be another successful community event. Rosters were sent out earlier this week. Please check your allocated times.

Summer uniform

As children return to summer uniform at the beginning of next term, it may be timely to check any requirements from the uniform shop by the end of this week.

End of term arrangements

Term 3 will finish this Friday, September 20th, at 2.20pm. Assembly will be held at 1.30pm. Term 4 begins on Monday October 7th.

Good luck to our parents and staff who are involved in the netball grand finals this weekend- hopefully there will be three premierships to celebrate.

Kind regards,

Sue Paulka

Principal

In an effort to improve child safety in and around the school crossing, the Moyne Shire has erected a number of "No Standing" signs near the crossing, which means no parking is permitted in the area between the signs. Please be mindful of this when dropping off and picking up your children so that you are not fined.

The office is open from 8.30am - 4.00pm each day.

There is no supervision for students before 8.40am. Teachers use the time prior to the doors opening for setting up for the day, therefore they are not available to supervise students. Students who arrive at school prior to 8.40am need to wait at the side door near the hall until the doors are opened.

The bell for the start of the day rings at 8.55am, any student arriving after this time needs to be signed in using the iPad at the office.

5/6L Report

Beach Monitoring

It was a beautiful morning this morning for four of our “citizen scientists” from Year 6 to do some beach monitoring. Again, we joined up with members of the Port Fairy Coastal Group to measure the sand levels at South Beach. We immediately noticed an increase in the level of sand around the post that we measure from. We were reminded of the usefulness of the data that we collect in the decision making process regarding the protection of our coastline. As a bonus this morning we saw a whale just out in front of the carpark at South Beach.

“I could do this every morning.” Lachlan Covey.
