Letter from the Acting Principal, Ursula DeCorrado

After dedicating over 60 years of her life to Catholic Education, Lorraine Costa has made the decision to retire at the end of this term.  She has shared her talent, her love of music and her generosity of spirit with hundreds of children and many colleagues.   Lorraine’s commitment to those in her care, her unwavering service and her genuine belief that we can all be musically successful has seen her have such a positive impact on so many of her students.  We wish Lorraine all the very best as she begins the next chapter of her life.  You are warmly invited to join us at a very special assembly for Lorraine to be held on Monday 20th June at 2:30pm in our school hall.

We also say a very fond farewell to Bec Swan who is also leaving us at the end of this term due to a change in personal circumstances.  Bec has been a wonderful asset to our school and a valued member of our teaching team for the past 3 1/2 years.  She will be greatly missed by all of us, but we wish her all the very best in her new beginnings and sincerely thank her for all she has given our school community.   Lisa Giuliano will be teaching Prep S commencing Monday 11th July.

Parent Teacher Interviews

We look forward to welcoming all our families this week for our parent teacher interviews.  It is important that all families make an interview time with their child’s teacher to ensure we have continued strong communication about students learning between home and school, as this supports your child to reach their full potential.  If you are unable to attend on any of the dates available we ask that you make an alternative time with your child’s teacher.

Just a reminder that the children finish at 1:00pm on Thursday 16th June as interviews will commence at 2pm (Camp Australia After School Care will be operating from 1.00pm)

Our Interviews will be held on :

1. Tuesday June 14th - 3.30-6.00pm

2. Wednesday June 15th - 3.30-6.00pm

3.Thursday June 16th - 2.00-8.00pm (school finishes at 1.00pm)

Bookings can be made through SOBS -  an online portal.  Please see link below:-

Champions of the School

Congratulations to Riley and Max who have advanced to the Regional Cross Country Competition.  This is a wonderful achievement and we wish you both all the very best as you compete today.  We have many very talented long distance runners, as we also had a few of our other students just miss out on qualifying to compete at this level.

Lighthouse Expo

As part of our community partnership with St Joseph’s College some of our Year 6 boys have worked with some Year 10 boys from the college on the Lighthouse Project.

We had the pleasure of being invited to see the presentation of their projects and hear them speak about what they have gained through this collaborative mentor experience.  The boys spoke eloquently and thoughtfully about their time together and valued the opportunity to meet and work together towards a shared goal.  I commend all the boys for their commitment and engagement in the project this term.

Premier's Reading Challenge

The Premier's Reading Challenge is an annual statewide initiative for school children up to Year 9, and children enrolled in an early childhood centre or program.

The challenge is not a competition but aims to improve literacy and encourage children to read widely for pleasure and learning. For students to successfully complete the challenge they must read or experience an allocated number of books based upon their year level during the reading period.  We have registered our school each year and encourage families to sign up and support their children reach the set targets by 2nd September.

Children and students who complete the challenge will have their efforts recognised through the receipt of a Certificate of Achievement signed by the Premier of Victoria.

To enrol your child in the Premier's Reading Challenge please see  the attached form.
